I caught an article at some other place that was not here the other day mentioning the rebroadcasting of the fight, which was the first I had heard of it. But, if anyone here did catch it, I am wanting to know if it was in HD or did it look as you always remember it having looked? The article writer felt it to be a matter of some significance, writing "For the first time in thirty years on commercial television, they saw the full fifteen rounds of the first clash between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. The last time their essential classic was aired in similar fashion was as an NBC rebroadcast complete with a studio retrospective. This was just the raw goods, as good as it ever was, Burt Lancaster and all."
I recorded it on my dvr however I have yet to finish it. Quality was amazing. Really took me back in time!
ESPN has been doing boxing marathons for the last few weekends. It's been great! Today they are doing Mayweather and Manny's greatest fights for like 8 hours.
oh damn, thanks or that! Recently the family ditched local cable for...YouTube TV. It is garbage, but that may be on account of my now officially being old and resisting all attempts at change simply on account of being old. I tell ya kid, it never was.....see that kinda logic. There is a point here, I promise, and here it is. Previous to the switch I had quite some time ago fairly smoothly setup the TiVo box that was standard with the local Mediacom cable to auto rec any boxing events, I was pretty impressed with it's abilities or options for specifics as it is amazing just how much it will record if you just use the word boxing for the key search word. Never woulda imagined there is that much boxing related stuff on the tube. Anyhow, with the switching over, I am completely lost in regards to what you mentioned there in your reply. If we'd stayed with the more expensive, but now obviously quite worth it, Mediacom, I woulda known about this awesomeness you mentioned the day they started. sighhh. I think I have finally reached the "setting the time on my old mans VCR" age for my generation,
Hey man! if by chance you know or were to find out, I have been long searching for the the first Morales vs Pac fight in the quality that it'd likely be in if they show it during what you mention there. The fight is technically in HD all over YT etc, but a 60fps version that DOES exist is one of my "White Whale's" of boxing
Have you looked into streaming HULU or Sling TV? Both of those streaming services have cloud based DVR's and carry ESPN and are way cheaper than cable. I switched to HULU a couple of years ago and really like. It works out great for live fights when there are two cards going on different channels at the same time.
