Yes, thinking Reid (a fighter who arguably beat Calzaghe) would beat Lacy (who was absolutely dominated by Calzaghe) is obviously a ridiculous suggestion.

I realise Reid is well shot but Lacy has looked shocking in every fight post Calzaghe. So I really don't see how you can compare the best light welter going up against the best welter and p4p best fighter in the world to this situation at all.

Clearly, there is something wrong with you.

Take it you picked Lacy to beat Calzaghe too, :rofl :rofl.

p.s. Reid gave Calzaghe his closest fight that would be why ;)

That was a long time ago. By the time Reid and Lacy fought Reid was shot.

Yup! As mentioned by Scurla Reid was shot. Reid at his peak would've been too much for Lacy however.

More than likely yes. Reid would have been able to outbox him quite comprehensively with a few possible scares along the way. He simply wasnt that busy in his later years and spent more time complaining to the refs. It was sad to see him go out like that.I never understood why he flirted with the WBF for so long:patsch

I can't remember many people in ESB at all picking Reid to win this fight. Only two or three, mainly people that just really didn't like Lacy and would've backed anyone this side of Pinocchio to beat him if they'd fought.

As for why it was made? One guy on the way one, the other on the way down but having been championship quality in his day. That's why.

Robin Reid in his pomp gives Lacy a hell of a lot more problems.

Reid in his prime would have destroyed Lacy. Reid is a bigger puncher than Calzaghe and had an equally good chin. Unfortunately, Reid was delusional and did not realise he was washed up by the time of the Lacy fight and Lacy had to give him a beat down to send the message home.

Reid wasn't "shot" like posters are saying. He had fought infrequently and had just 2 years or so prior beat ottke and was like 33 or 34 and hand't been beat up (at least recently). I don't doubt he wasn't at his best for the fight, but i don't think you can say he was shot. Reid even looked decent IMO vs Froch before quitting (which obviously means now 2 or so years after his fight vs Lacy, he can't cut it anymore). Reid was a very good fighter so thinking he could beat Lacy wasn't unreasonable.

Reid was shot. Dont try and paint Reid to be something he wasnt. By the time the Reid fight came he was shot mentally and physically. In the Ottke fight the ref was disgrace but id hardly say he beat Ottke. As for Froch he essentially quit.Mentally he simply wasnt there.
