The official judges i believe all gave Margarito only 1 round I thought the fight was closer and very competitive after round 5 or 6 Margo was coming straight ahead and bullied Cotto when he got inside and on the ropes like the first fight Cotto was on his bike and landing the flusher shots but Margarito seemed to take them well and seemed to hurt Cotto more with his arm punches as Cotto would look bothered by the shots and go on the run Did anybody have the scorecards more competitive I saw a carbon copy of the first fight with Cotto just running more and into the later rounds
Nope i had cotto winning at least 7 rounds to 2. Which is what most of the judges had when the fight was stop. There was no doubt margarito needed a knockout to win.
I saw different. Although the similarities to the 1st fight were obvious, Cotto made the adjustments he needed to, and if he had been able to do so in the 1st fight, that would have gone Cotto's way too.(no stoppage due to the eye of course). Cotto didn't look gassed, or hurt or worn down. Nor was he putting himself in those sitting duck situations again. I had Cotto with a pretty clear clean sweep, with the exception of the 4th (i believe)which was fairly even.
Had margo up by 2rds. Margo was feed to cotto, with a fractured eye socket and fragile eye + 22oz pillow gloves + home turf advantage...
I gave Cotto all but one and another one I had even.I think a case could be made for a shut out though.Tony didn't have a clear round.
