I think it's a good possibility. His arms looked tired a little and the workouts Mackie put him threw is a lot for a 40+ yr. old fighter. A barber of mines had brought this up after the fight and still thinks Hopkins did too much to his body. I didn't really look at it like that too much cause his speed and boxing ability still looked great but I guess the only way we'd know is if they do it again and the outcome is much different.
Well you have your opinion although disagree, I actually think he won. But that's not the point of thread of who won the their fight, I just wanna to see peoples opinions on Hopkins physicality that nite.
Yeah, yeah. If not the decision, people should at least accept the simple fact that Calzaghe was the only fighter in B-Hop's career with a significantly better stamina and higher energy level, which showed the difference between the great finish vs. Tarver, Winky and Pavlik, and the fouling and holding vs. Calzaghe. So suggesting that of his 56 fights Hopkins overtrained for non other than Joe Calzaghe, based on 'but he was exhaused' is just as stupid as stating Margarito has a glass jaw - 'but he was knocked out by Mosley'.
The only people who wish to see this fight again are the ones who want Calzaghe to lose. Had the decision gone to Hopkins, the fight was still **** and I still wouldn't want to see it again.
Hopkins plan was to spoil. That's it. He outboxed Pav because he could. He spoiled Calz because it was Hopkins only hope of squeeking a decision against him. Let this drop. Please.
Well like I said this was brought up a couple of times by different people that I chatted with about the fight, so I just wanted to see what others thought. From what I heard Hopkins supposedly had said he did a lot more than he normally does for that fight, so overtraining can also have an effect on your stamina. It's just the reality. It's the same if your trying too hard to execute something, rather than just letting flow naturally. And Hopkins arms in that fight looked bigger than they ever did, and too much mucsle mass can cause you to drop your arms and fatigue.
Don't think. Hopkins is way too experienced for that mistake and he has always been very methodical in training.
