I say yes. I say this because when Banks let go with power combos like he knocked Mitchell out with last time, he hurt him every single time. And then he would act surprised and back off like "Shiiit almost knocked him out." This happened at least 3 times from rd 3-12, and in between all that Banks was barely jabbing. I thought "Maybe Banks is trying to tire out this football player and stop him late since he sees he can hurt him any time." Then in the last minute of the fight Banks throws not a single power shot. Looked to me like he came out to give the win to Mitchell to set up a US fight for Wlad after Povetkin. He can get paid again for the tiebreaker after Mitchell gets beat. I'm saying this is one of the most obviously thrown fights, for some of the most obvious reasons. Banks should have his license revoked and the fight should be a NC. It was obvious he wasn't in it to win.
I don't think he did I think it just comes from having become a sparring partner mentality that he has now from sparring Wladimir for so many years
It was certainly weird because every time he opened up Mitchell was chicken dancing all over the place, or maybe it is just a sparring partner mentality
No. I think what happened in the 1st fight created unrealistic expectations. He did hurt Mitchell, but Mitchell fought a much more disciplined fight, and wasn't the sitting duck he was in he 1st fight. I think Banks was respecting Mitchell's power.
Wladimir has been Banks's sparring partner for this match, like for the last one... Really, Banks could turn off Mitchell's light whenever he wanted, he really blatantly backed off whenever Mitchell was too hurt.
What about the choice that Banks may have hurt his right in the fusillade that almost blasted Mitchell out early? Haven't heard any post-fight interview with Banks.
You know, that occurred to me JG, but I feel like we would have heard about it afterward. That was the one thing in the back of my mind, maybe he hurt his hand, but that would definitely have come up post-fight to try to get a rematch.
yeah Mitchell is pretty bad he can't take a shot it seems and he seems to have lost his confidence and intensity that got him here in the first place
Mitchell hurt Banks in the 5th with a stiff jab.....put him on chicken legs. From that point, Banks decided he'd better wait to counter. Mitchell smartly adjusted to the ploy and controlled his offense from a distance.:think
People were calling for Banks vs Klitschko after he beat Mitchell atsch that joke last night summed up HW boxing just now.
