According to a report in the renown Mexican newspaper Reforma, the camp of lightweight Johnny Nolasco is alleging that Jorge Barrera, brother and manager of former three divisional world champion Marco Antonio Barrera asked that Nolasco, the original opponent for Marco Antonios most recent bout on January 31st in Guadalajara, MX, take a dive in that bout. The Daily Reforma quotes Rosa Diaz, manager of Nolasco among other fighters, who states that Jorge Barrera called her and stated we need for Nolasco not to go past the 4th round, at the very least. Diaz told the paper that she refused the offer. She states that she reponded to Jorge Barrera, How are you going to ask me that if we are speaking about Marco Antonio Barrera? Please especially with a fighter that has less than half the fights that Marco Antonio does. At the last minute, Cuban Freudis Rojas substituted for Nolasco as the official opponent. The result was a less than stellar contest which Barrera won by disqualification after the 1-8-1 Rojas initiated a headbutt that resulted in Barrera needing stitches. On Friday Barrera stated that he had discussed the issue with his brother and denied the accusation. Do you think Barrera's team had it's eye on the more lucarative fight against Khan and they didn't want this fight to jeopardise it?
Yes I agree, it does make you wonder what Nolasco has to gain from lying though. Nice......hair by the way
exactly, thats the 1st thing i always ask, which is why i wouldn't rule it out but yeah, she has very nice..................hair
Is not impossible. Perhaps barrera wants to sell himself as still elite material and generate interest.
Wasn't "The Great" Barrera's opponent's record 1-8?**** me,how the mighty fall when involved with Don King.
Jorge's a fighter himself, why didn't he just step in as tune-up and let Marco bat him around for three minutes? No less legit than Freudis...he did make it to the third with a championship-era Mi Vida Loca. :think
Then why didn't he show up to fight? Did Marco send the mafia to keep him off the plane? This is the same bull**** that Juanma's last opponent pulled. He didn't ***** out of the fight, the Mexican Mafia made him do it!
