I always thought Kovalev would be the one to avoid Beterbiev since Beterbiev relentlessness would most likely get to him. The article below states that Beterbievs team turned down an offer from Duva and wanted another fight before fighting Kov. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...valev-looks-to-make-fight-next-year/99756100/
This era of the LHW division has been one of the biggest tragedies modern boxing. You have three LHWs who ALL captured titles, all in November 2017, all three Russians. We're going om seven years, and the two remaining LHW champions are yet to fight each other with one 40 years old. Down right sad, and to add insult to injury, their fans attempt to justify it.
Kovalev was a terrific boxer and one of the most brutal and enjoyable punchers I've watched. He would've been completely and unceremoniously handed his azz though, in this one. I love watching Kenny Norton beating the crap out of people too, but Tyson would murder him with absolutely no quarter or time to adapt, in a similar kind of way. It's just a very bad look for Sergey where he never gets into the fight. There won't be time. And a man needs time to change. We all learned that from the Steven Seagal classic On Deadly Ground. Sometime after that old guy got grabbed by the sack and thrown into a pinball machine in slow motion.
