Prior to fighting a 36 year old Kovalev in Russia, 28 year old, 18 pro fight Yarde had 10 years boxing experience and no real tests as a pro.

Prior to fighting a 38 year old Beterbiev in Britain, 31 year old, 25 pro fight Yarde had 13 years boxing experience and three tests as a pro, including a world title fight away from home.

So despite being 2 years older than Kovelev and fighting away from home rather than at home, Beterbiev stopped Yarde 3 rounds earlier and a better version of Yarde at that. Beterbiev also never came anywhere near as close to getting stopped as Kovalev did, AB was clever and defensively astute rather than being on the brink at any point. AB showed a lot of mental strength and a solid chin (didn't get knocked down against a big, athletic, hard punching, determined and durable LHW) despite age, wear and problems making the weight. So while this wasn't a vintage Beterbiev performance, his stock can only go up given the context.

Yeah the fight with Gvozdyk proved that he wasn't a front runner & that he can still bring it by closing the show,

I can recall the shallow ESPN crew turning silent suddenly right before believing Artur was done for just in time for him to turn it around in surprising fashion.

Still doesn't change the fact that you're looking for an exit ramp.

He's obviously gonna be getting hit by father time but he's still not shot IMO.

What we saw was a massive, hard hitting, athletic beast in Yarde try to keep up with Beterbiev's pace but he was absolutely drowned by the 7th.

    Bivol is completely different fight.

No change. Beterbiev controlled the fight and beat Yarde down. Typical fight for him.

Beterbiev does what Beterbiev does same as always he just grinds his opponents down and the fight with Yarde went like most predicted it would go,and like always it’s onto the next fighter now .

    About the same.

He's 38 so his career is probably in its twilight.

He's still either the best or second best in the division.

Same. He was able to continue with his KO streak as expected only he had to go through fire to get it. Yarde was underestimated. Imo

Down. Beterbiev is starting to slide. Yarde did pretty well but regardless of how well Yarde did those last few rounds were a huge mountain to climb if he didn't get caught. Beterbiev proved he's just as dangerous on the outside as he is inside. I used to have Beterbiev as the favorite against Bivol but now I see it as a true 50/50.
