The problem with this is that the more poularity, the more hype. More over protected fighters and bull**** fights. Armchair fans will be catered for and TV viewing figures will be more important than anything.
Oh do stop! I say, we have a wordsmith in our midst! The lad boxes superbly and has a good attitude. Yes he also has a media hype train of unparrallelled proportions but is that really his fault? He did very very well to live with Kindelan at the Olympics and has so far provided some good entertainment on undercards of ITV shows. People saying they want to see him knocked out just sound like bitter weirdos to me.

That is the problem on here. But i am glad that this sort of crap is kept within these boards. Lucky for me I know real fans of the sport so i think most ppl are safe in the knowledge that boxing has been in existance since ancient times.
Khan humble? No. Hes arrogant. Many quotes can attest to that. Furthermore, from what I heard he flew for an amateur kid who beat his brother after said kid made a little jibe against him. Lot of restraint and class there. Then theres the constant 'big Asian fanbase' wherever hes fighting. What the **** does that matter? Why always bring it up? Pisses me off no end that does. I don't like the guy. I really couldn't care less that you think im erm 'bitter'. That he is one of the most overhyped prospects of the past 10 years and plays a great part in encouraging senseless chavs to this great sport are secondary to that.
I don't think the guy is arrogant, he just has that confidence a lot of successful athletes seem to have. So he thanks his Asian fans for coming to his fights? Big deal, he thanks his Bolton fans as well.
I don't understand or share this hatred for the young'un. He is doing well so far, isn't he? He has fought good opposition for a 21 year-old, hasn't he? He is improving and learning well, right? Feather-fisted handpicked opponents? Sure! Until his defence improves, what would be the point of him going against a banger if his chin is not very good. Is he arrogant - yeah, he is; is he in love with himself wanting to break the record for the youngest British Champ? Sure...but let's not forget he's only 21! Isn't it easy for success to get to your head when you are that young, and when everyone around you is tellng you you are the next Naz and hyping you like mad? If anyone's to blame it is guys like Warren - and even he does his best to keep his feet on the ground! It's silly to want him to fail - if he overreaches he WILL fail. Let's hope he doesn't. Of course, none of this means we should swallow the hype about him or overrate him. But is he an exciting prospect? Of course! Is he bad for British boxing? Just ask Limond...see what he says about that... Ultimately, though...it's not HIS fault ITV and Warren are hyping him as the next big thing; you can hardly blame him for enjoying the attention and believing some of the hype. Will it all end in tears? Probably...but let's cross that bridge when we have to.
Khan is completely over hyped. He has skills but no chin - he'll get found out as soon as he fights someone with some power.
you cant have a go at khan with pete docherty as your avator can ya?? your contridicting yourself saying khan attracts chavs to boxing, pete docherty attracts the same sort of people to start injectin smack
