It wasn’t the elbow, Glowacki just tried to milk it. It was the 1-2 he landed after the bell, from which Glowacki was still visibly hurt at the beginning of the 3rd round and ultimately helped Briedis get the stoppage. Briedis is the better fighter and was going to win in any case, but It was a ****ed up way to end a fight. With all the talk of corruption in Germany, USA, UK, that one strangely got a pass.
I'm not really concerned. Glowacki shouldn't have kept trying to club the back of his head so the elbow was more out of retaliation for that than any cheap way to win the fight. Briedis would have won regardless. Glowacki saved himself a more prolonged beating.
Sure the elbow was egregious but Glowacki's the one who initiated the dirty stuff when he cracked Briedis round the back of his mind with a vicious rabbit punch. Robert Byrd's not fit to ref a pillow fight between two children anymore, let alone a world title fight between two CW Level champions and he screwed that one up royally.
I'm a Briedis fan, but that should have been a NC as I ever saw one. It wasn't just the very blatant retaliating elbow what everyone brings up, worst was that after Glowacki was dropped shortly after, the round went on far too long with Briedis knocking down Glowacki hard again far after the bell went. Glowacki clearly never recovered from it and referee Byrd looked as bad in that fight as his wife does in scoring. It sure looks like Briedis clearly is the better of the two, but too many things went horribly wrong here to let the result stand. 1. The elbow was very hard, as you could see in the replay. 2. Even if Glowacki pulled a Dirrell, he should have had enough recovery time by timeout. 3. Byrd had almost zero control over the fight. It was more free for all as a boxing match. 4. The 2nd round should have ended when the bell sounded, everything what happened after hugely influenced the outcome of the fight.
They both committed a foul. One was worse than the other but that one came as a result of the former. He deserved the win, all that considered, but a rematch is the right way to go
He was suffering from a bad hand injury for a while Old post of mine 'Like I said the other day (a week before the actual fight), I saw a post on YT probably about a week ago saying that Briedis ''can't use his power because he has an injury'' and I just saw this one on there today. ''Briedis had a surgery on his wrist and is still recovering from that. Not sure why that is kept quiet. So pretty much he boxed Gevor one handed. But he has serious issues in his camp, that need addressing asap'' His former coach 'Former Coach, analyzing the Last Fighting Deer, lists a number of things that Mairim managed to show a better boxing. "Mairis jumps on top, heads up, he's sitting on jajb, but there's no sequel. Mairis works well with jab, but you're on the right hand. But the reason is already known to many - the good hand was hurt. So you can say that this He won the fight with jabb. I do not want to go too far because Maira's mistakes are being corrected by his coaches."
Yeah, I remember that post mate, just think he's not the most consistent performer, judging over many fights. When he's hot, he's really hot, when he's cold, he's very cold!
Briedis should have never been allowed to fight Glowacki as he lost the Noel Gevor fight CLEARLY. He also committed some insane fouls against Gevor too. Briedis is a dirty piece of ****. I hope Dorticos gonna brutally KO this cheating piece of **** and ends his career. I really wish Briedis will never fight again afterwards after receiving a brutal beating and getting violently ko'd.
