I didn't see the fight, so this is a question and not a perception. But in coming in at 241 (and considering that Brock is one of those guys who could probably fight at crusier if he tried), it seems to be that Brock was sabatoging himself from the start. Did he fight with any fire at all?

Brock and Byrd were paid as muppets for the IBF. Either one of them cashed in and was sent into the back of anyone's memories as the guys who were hammered by the Steel Hammer. Whether the former Olympic Middle and the Boxing Banker wanted to be hammered again is highly unlikely so that may answer about their lack of commitment at this point. Byrd was pounded by Sasha Povetkin and Brock was just out ran by Eddie in their nothing more than losing efforts... Now, the more natural IBF eliminator happens and the Klitschko - Povetkin comes one step closer to day light.

First off, contrary to a lot of people here on ESB, I thought Chambers won the fight clearly(I scored it 9-3).
How Pernell Whitaker and Brock's father could advise Brock to run out the clock the last 2 rounds, is beyond me.
The bottom line is that Calvin Brock is just an ordinary fighter, who probably peaked before his fight with Wlad.

I also thought Chambers won, but Brock did have his moments.

Brock was not as muscular as he seemed to say. It looked like the extra 15 pounds were body flab.

Chambers is fast, no question about it. He seems to have little to no power, but he sure is a fast and pretty accuate puncher who is also more aggressive than I expected. He seemed to take the fight to Brock, who was moving to say away from Chambers for most of the fight.

Brock will regroup and comeback. But he's gonna have to improve his game quite a bit if he's ever to reestablish himself as a world class contender. But then again, he may just not be able to get any better.

Chambers won the fight in my opinion (about 7-5 or 7-4-1). He showed he has speed and good defense. He's a solid contender in other words. Povetkin should beat him.

Brock on the other hand looked like a somewhat out of shape, ordinary fighter. A top 25 heavyweight, but nothing more. I think everybody in the top 10 beats him. At his age and after 33 fights, he's as good as he's going to get. It's probably all downhill from here.

I hate to hear boxers say things like they WANTED to put on the extra weight. And worse than that TURNiNG FAT INTO MUSCLE...

You dont turn fat into muscle ....muscle is muscle and fat is fat...fat doesnt turn into muscle. when I hear atlhletes say stuff like this , its pretty much over for them imo.

They arent training as hard as they used to and is coming to terms with falling off the radar.

But in any case , Brock gave a solid effort but he just couldnt hold up under the pressure of Chambers. The extra weight had him looking pathetic, really.

Good assessment, Brooklyn. That's the way I saw it, although I haven't seen Povetkin fight so I can't make a prediction on him and Chambers.

It looked like the extra weight hampered Brock, and I was surprised to Eddie take the fight straight to him the way he did.

Calvin is cooked:good Klitschko ruined his confidence and Chambers just laid a boxing lesson on him.

Chambers will walk down and beat Povetkin as well. Obviously expect AP fans to feel otherwise, but I caution anyone who's not a fan of either, against dismissing Chambers off hand.

Fast Eddie isnt getting his props for what he did, but he's moving forward an they'll be some whining, crying, and bitching going on when Eddie takes down Povetkin.

241 is a good indication of how seriously he is taking this fight.
