Not saying he should be disqualified but a warning and a chance for matey to recover would’ve been nice
It was a DQ. Buatsi out here fighting middleweights, fighting illegally and then having the balls to call out the light heavies like he's a don!
No I don't think it was a disqualification. He threw the shot based on instinct within a split second of Fat Terry saying break. It happens in boxing, both guys are fighters, protect yourself at all times!
Yeh he has the talent and the amateur background in not fighting middleweights, who have come over from all the way in austraila at short notice. Like all the decent light heavy weights need to fight better opposition. Even if you look at the resume of callum jhonson apart from him being cannon fodder for Beterbiev on dazn and maybe if you are pushing it Buglioni is he is even poor
If you are going to say the referee says "defend yourself at all times" as a defence for Buatsi then.. "obey my commands at all times" or something very similar also gets said to both fighters. So Buatsi didn't obey the referees commands, so Buatsi did (at best) make an honest mistake (still a mistake) or break rules. My problem with last night was Terry O'Connor panicked and didn't give Quinlan any time to recover whatsoever. You would think a man with his experience would have sent Buatsi to a neutral corner, given Quinlan time by going over to speak to Buatsi and warning him about hitting after the break and then coming back to check on Quinlan by which time he may well have been on his feet and shaken off some of the effects of the punch. But it looked like to me O'Connor thought "if Quinlan stays down here and doesn't get up I have either got to DQ Buatsi or call this a NC", a NC was probably more likely for an unintentional foul, let's remember it was a Matchroom card. So O'Connor drags Quinlan off the floor my his wrist, not only wrong but also dangerous, he could have injured Quinlan by pulling at his wrist, also Quinlan had almost no balance and O'Connor is dragging him to his feet. O'Connor retired last night and I believe British boxing will be better for it long term, I say long term because short term we seem to have been given McCann (the referee in the Price and Takam fights). Also its a shame Ian John Lewis didn't retire with O'Connor, the 116-113 Bellotti scorecard was by far the worst card I've seen in a very long times, Lewis is either corrupt or incompetent, there is no other explanation.
He was shaking his head at Quinlan as if to say "no mate, it didn't hurt it wasn't that bad" ...It rocked him to his boots and he didn't recover ! Terry Oconnor was it ??? Idiot of a man
