just had a look on boxrec wondering if any 1 can confirm this, was it a good stoppage? what a strange night of boxing
it was premature. burns won the 1st 4 or 5 rounds comfortably. amidu came back into it but one big punch from burns in the 7th wobbled amidu. burns caught him once more cleanly and the ref stepped in with 17 seconds left of the round
A bit early for my liking. He was in a bit of trouble but guys have come back from a lot worse to win a million times before.
I wasn't that surprised to be honest. Burns was hitting him with a lot of clean shots throughout, and although they weren't having that much of an effect, if you walk forward with no defence one always has a chance of catching you just right. No way the Yak was recovering, he had no defence and no clue . He could have let Burns throw a few more punches, but really there was no point.
Wow i didnt think hewould dominate or get the ko, i thought iut would have been a closer fight. Good fight burns
the guy was out on his feet. If it hadn't been stopped burns would have gone forward and clipped him a couple more uneeded punches. The stoppage was early but all it did was save the boy from unnessesary punishment because burns would have finished it without a shadow of a doubt.
Burns was stunning him throughout the fight with fast accurate hard punches to the head & body, it was a matter of time before the brave but limited african unfolded. You just cannot ship so many clean shots without eventually unravelling. As I have always predicted, Rickys getting better & better...
I was ok with the stoppage. He was violently shaken and those type of delayed responses to a punch are when a fighters really hurt. I was quite impressed with the African too he looks a good fighter.
the stoppage was deserved ithought.we could see it coming.this guy was supposed to be a harder fight ,and i expected a harder fight.it would appear to me he was one of these african fighters with a 'padded' record.not that all are but looking at his record on boxrec (if that is to be believed) it would appear that his record isnt impressiuve as first stated. but never the less ,a decent win for ricky.
Burns is a pretty good boxer. He doesn't do a lot wrong, just lacks power. Amidu was awful. He was a walking chin, thats about it. He couldn't throw punches correctly, he telegraphed everything, he was pretty slow and didn't cut the ring off like a pressure type should and he didn't have the power his record suggested. He needs some schooling because he's just an athlete right now.
