Did Bute ever stand a chance against Ward?

Ward said Bute needed to prove himself, which was true, so Bute tried and failed miserably, showing he is simply not good enough to cut it at the top level. Ward would have boxed his head off and stopped him despite his "feather" fists.

Its not good to try and go by that example, and also Bute fought Froch where Ward didnt
    Below

Exactly, as you note, you cant go by common opponents in every case and Bute had looked better in many cases

Still suffering after that 4-0 slaughtering I gave you the other day
    Seems a fair post.
I think Bute before the loss would have beat Ward, but he just doesnt seem anywhere near the same since Froch beat him

    No.

In fact, Bute could never hack it at world level.

I've told you all this for many years.

No there isnt anything to think otherwise, Bute was never proven at the level most of his fans and boxing public thought he belongs, against 2 of best opponents he faced he wasnt even close to winning, Ward schools him anyone thinking otherwise is simply biased.

Well at the end of the day, the truth was that Andre didn't want to have anything to do with Bute. He even offered the fight in Oakland, so this even makes Andre look like even a bigger clown.

    No.

Though I can't stand the way Ward fights, Bute is a joke at this stage in his career. He is afraid of his shadow. He shouldn't be in the ring. Time for him to retire and try to salvage any semblance of "face" he may have once had.

You are making Ward to be something he's not. He does have his limitations at many departments as well. Although I believe that Ward would have beaten Bute especially now when Bute's best days are longtime gone, Bute wasn't "exposed" like you claim him to be. He just lacked the mentality of the champion to bounce back after defeat. I agree that he made a lot of money fighting guys that were usually not a world class level, but that doesn't mean that he would stand no chance against Ward. Bute obviously has problems fighting aggressive fighters that hit hard. His mobility allows him to outbox them as well, but once he gets hurt and the opponents start overwhelming him, he's in trouble. Andre Ward is neither aggressive nor a hard puncher. His style is based on his jab and defense, as well as good timing. That style obviously suits Bute better, who also possesses the mobility that doesn't suit Ward. Also, Ward does a lot of clinching as a part of his tactics and that's the thing Bute lacks in my opinion. If he clinched each time his opponents went at him instead of just backing out to the ropes, he would have handled both Froch and Pascal in my opinion. So yes, Andre Ward is better and more complete than Bute and I would have him as the favorite as well, but saying that Bute stood no chance against Ward especially during his peak is ridiculous.

he did before but not now. Froch has ruined the guy.

i would have picked Bute to win by either stoppage or points. there is a reason why he didn't want Bute involved in the Super Six. and there's a reason he ducked him when he should of fought him instead of the drained zombie, Dawson.
