Bute dominated a fresh Bike while Ward had a close struggle against a version who had been out of action for 18 months. i'm not judging Bute by today's standards, i'm judging him by when he was at his best before the Froch fight.
he saw that Ward likes to get close to his opposition, but also saw that Bute takes those kind of fighters out with his hard counter shots. it was a bad style match for Ward. both Goosen and Ward saw that. which is why Bute was swerved. :deal
Styles makes fight but Bute would lose that fight. Ward would have figured him out, and win a wide ud. Too much ring iq.
Bute would've done better than many would like to think. It's not a good matchup for Ward. Anyone bringing up triangle theories should not be taken seriously and promptly ignored.
I think he did pre-Froch, he probably had the best chance of beating Ward out of anyone except Dirrel.
and this is why promoters get paper belts and defend them against nobodies....people buy into the hype bute never beat anybody and, newsflash, he never will
:deal It's funny how these idiots bang on about "pre-Froch Bute", this is the same "pre-Froch Bute" who got KO'd by Andrade only to get saved by the ref. As you said, get a belt and defend it against nobodies and the brain dead masses who no nothing about boxing will buy into it, just look at some of the stuff people were saying about Nathan Cleverly prior to the Kovalev fight as a prime example
In retrospect, probably not. I certainly wish we got Bute/Ward though. It was one of the best match ups that could have been made for Ward at the time, bar Dawson. At the time, Bute was on a hot run, he showed great power and intelligence against Johnson, Andrade, and Brinkley. He couldn't hurt Froch though and hasn't looked good since. I think Ward would likely be able to take Bute's best shots now, frustrate him with his pressure and get a wide points win.
