I'm not saying he hit like Tyson, but he used to hit harder than he does now, that's all. Even a blind person could see that! Why do so many of his critics have a problem believing that?
As much as Eubank was allegedly shot at the time. He was put on his arse by Calzaghe....and he said how hard he hit.
Exactly!:good Take the Eubank fight, for instance, and forget about the knockdown as well. The shots he was hitting Eubank with were visibly much harder than the shots he was throwing against Kessler and Hopkins. I don't think anybody who's seen those fights could dispute that!
I actually think yes. And I say this because B-Hop's increase of holding and mugging occured more frequently as the fight went on.
Im not so sure if hoppo really hurt calz, more stunned him with sneaky shots and caught him kind of off balance...(like the knockdown.) Calz was a much harder puncher when younger, see eubank and mitchell fights for examples,he has also seemingly lost a lot of speed from even the version who fought lacey/manfredo... Calz must have troubled hoppo with his punches/pressure in some way or else why the holding, reluctance to engage, faking rest ect? Especially given he knocked down calz in the first? Why didnt he really go after calz for any length of time if he thought he could really hurt him and that calz couldnt hurt him at all?
This would seem to be the salient point that people answering no to the question have to address. If Calzaghe's punches didn't trouble Hopkins at all, why didn't he just walk through them? Why all the holding on? Holding on isn't an offensive tactic.
wow the amount or smalk talk and arguments in this is crazy i leave for a few months and come back to this JC did not really hurt Hopkins but i think the fight was close to a stoppage or Ko when hopkins whent down for the low blow. BH had a flash KD in round 1 bewfore JC had a chance to get into the fight so i dont think BH really hurt JC either. It was an OK fight not a classic but the right man won
This is some bull ****! I thought you knew a thing or two about boxing scar, maybe a thing or two is as good as it gets. "Few times" i.e. more than two I imagine you mean. Please I'd love for you to back this up with a few rounds and seconds examples... if of course you can find them. Just so we understand each other, my definition of hurt = in trouble. Oh and if you like any other examples of a 'hurt' Joe please, any fight, find them, i'd love to see, cos well maybe i'm not looking right but I can't see many at all in his career. Maybe late in the 12th vs Eubank...? :think Maybe a bit in the 4th against Kessler....? :think........ Help me out people please, fights, rounds, seconds, so I can find them, maybe i'm just a blind moron, sorry. Oh and don't say the knockdowns, I'm talking about being HURT. Not caught off balance then getting up immediately and continuing his gameplan. HURT. Get back to me please, I look forward to investigating this with you all.
