    I wouldn't say he quit to save his undefeated record. He retired pretty much at the right time. I would say he *and Frank Warr.en) might have milked his WBO belt and home court rock star status a little too lonb to keep his "0" though.

    I think that every post retirement interview I've read with Calzaghe, he mentions his "0" at least 2-4 times within a page.

    Everyone was calling for him to face Pavlik, but Calzaghe responded that Pavlik wasn't in his class.
    Then Dawson called him out and he rushed to retirement.

    Calzaghe quit cause he mistakenly believed his "0" would be all he needed to secure his legacy. He was dead wrong.

    The only answer can be YES.

    Hopkins had said he'd go to Cardiff for a rematch, Froch was calling him out round the clock, and there were plenty of other top fighters available at 168 and 175... and Calzaghe cherrypicked a shot-to-****ing-smithereens Jones and then scuttled off into retirement.

    Not even the Calzaghe fanboy squad can spin this any other way. Hopkins and Froch were calling for it, and he ducked them to fight a shot fighter then retire. It's crystal-clear what happened. :deal

    He beat the man at 175, the same guy who 3 years on is STILL the man at 175.

    People at the time rushed to the "Hopkins is shot" theory. Since then Hopkins has beaten Pavlik and Pascal twice,so he was shot 3 years ago...but not now?#

    Calzaghe was 37 when he retired, had cleaned out the 168 division,beaten the top guy at 175. Had made a boatload of money and had notoriously bad hands, a couple of kids.

    Why bother continuing to fight? What more could he have acheived?

    Does every boxer have to keep fighting until they're shot and get beaten???
