Did Calzaghe Quit so not to risk his "0"??

    Irrelevant what Calzaghe did in the amateurs. What we want to know is IF he ran way to preserve his lossless status? That Popkins clip of Calzaghe ending highlights makes Joe even more suspect. Seems he needs the help of the Ref to win. They certianly helped him to get awarded all those KO/TKO wins.

    So you criticize Calzaghe to wait to fight Hopkins............................:-(

    Felix, Hatton, Froch, Calzaghe and Kessler all went to US to fight.........and what did Hopkins and all the US best do to fight some serious opponents........

    If Hopkins wanted to fight the best, he, the promoters and the US fans just had to ask.

    My guess is he quit because he was approaching 40 & had long running hand problems. Not everyone is Bernard Hopkins.

    LOL, Froch came to the US to fight IN HIS PRIME to face PRIME opponents! Froch > Slappy
    TRINIDAD came to fight in his prime against a just past prime BHOP.

    Kessler, like Calzaghe hid in his little irrelevant boxing town until he no longer could and be taken seriously.
    Calzaghe came to US when he realized his resume was shet, and that BHOP was well past prime, and RJJ was completely shot. :yep

    Calzaghe will be remembered in history as a marketing hype and paper champion creation of one Dice loader and bottom of the deck dealer, Frank Warden. :yep

    What a stupid question. The real question should be:

    Did Calzaghe cherrypick throughout his career so as not to risk his "0"?

    Quitting a meaningless cherrypicking career is besides the point. If you cherrypick, it doesn't matter when you retire. That's how guys like Vitali and Lennox fought into their late 30s.

    I think he did to some extent but I don't think it was a ***** move like it's being made out. I think he probably thought he was getting on and wasn't quite what he was so qhy tarnish his record and reputation with a loss.
    His dad pretty much said the same. Quit while your ahead and don't blow your record.

    Maybe he just wanted to tan some coke though. Who knows

    We already know for sure that Frank Warden cherry picked Slappy's opponents, and had the ref's in his pocket to halt matches prematurely giving Slappy all those unearned TKO/KOs on his resume.
    The question is, when he finally got from under Warden and came to America to beat the shot Jones, did he quit afterwards when he could no longer cherry pick and had to meet real LIVE competition which would risk his fully crafted undefeated status? :yep
    Most people believe the answer is YES, and refuse to rate Slappy White as a serious HOF/ATG candidate.

    Joe Calzaghe was always speculated he is going to fight a top ranked opponent but for some strange reason (Frank Waren/Calzaghe getting the shits/Enzo's fatherly love/Calzaghe's opponent running away....) the fights never happend:-

    Please. You know as well as I do that Calzaghe would have got the same credit he got when he schooled Lacy, if he did the same to Pavlik (which is to say, no credit at all).

    While on the other hand, Calzaghe's win against Hopkins is looking better with time.

    Its really not worth debating, due to some posters fickle nature Calzaghe would not have got much credit for beating Pavlik or Dawson, its a lose, lose situation in all honesty.

    I'm sure most fans would agree that it's more about HOW he won. Had it been a win like most of Slappy's England matches where the ref stopped the fight following one of Joe's pitty pat flurries that do no harm, then of course observers are going to say, that's BS!
    However, if it's a clear dominate performance such as Hopkins' win over Trinidad, Pavlik or Pascal II. then fans are going to say, FUKKING A!!! BHOPs a G! :yep
