Yes and he would have ducked Lacy if his dad didn't stop him pulling out, it doesn't mean he wouldn't have beat Lacy or Johnson. Calzaghe was goingthrough a divorce then, that's a hell of a time in man's life, he's aloud a pass
It's a bit of a technicality!!! My arguement was that Haye will fight a Klit, which he is doing. So really I feel you were wrong on the whole. Though if you insist on the actual wording of the bet I will of course honour it. As long as you make a post respecting Haye for stepping up to to the plate to face a Klit, something you thought he would not do!:yep
I believe that he had no fear of fighting Johnson and genuinely pulled out because the risk/reward wasn't big enough. It's no biggie really. Johnson was a decent gatekeeper at LHW where the fight would have been. Joe was touting a move to 175 at the time. Joe didn't pull out because the fear of fighting Glenn Johnson was too much, the were outside factors that have previously been mentioned.
Come on man, it's not a technicality of wording. You made a bet with clear conditions, which you were wrong about. And when I accepted your bet, I said I expected him to face a Klit (Vitali), but not in the time frame you proposed. I have given Haye credit for stepping up. I think his reasons for the fight were purely weighed up with risk/reward in mind but, regardless, he looks like he'll fight Wlad and that's all that matters so credit where it's due.
And I will of course honour the bet though I do think the point of the whole thing is lost considering I was about a month out if that!!!

according to this book he pulled his back out in training. w*rren bought the purse bids for woods-johnson 3. calzaghe was gonna fight johnson if he'd won the fight. but of course he lost. atsch agreed that calzaghe would have completely owned johnson. perfect style for joe. :bbb
Calzaghe didn't duck Johnson but the reasons given at the time weren't exactly true. He was having serious head problems and couldn't accept the fella his ex mrs was banging was living in his old house with his kids and was essentially also being kept by Calzaghe's money. Instead of concentrating on training he was turning up trying to drag the fella out of the house. Good job he did 'duck' Johnson in a way cos Johnson's always been tough. Calzaghe with a clear head gives him an absolute tuning though and certainly doesn't allow him to wade forward on the front foot all fight.
