Did Canelo slaughter the mystique behind GGG being the boogeyman?

GGG and Nelo both landed at a similar connect percentage. Within 2% of each other. Nelo landed at 33% and GGG at 31%. Both of their historical averages dipped in terms of efficiency and that has to do with the defensive abilities each man had. These two are both very good boxers, great technicians but contrasting styles. Styles make fights and GGG had the advantage in owning the right style to cause more problems for Alvarez than the other way around.

Nelo spent more time with his back against the ropes than he has in his entire career. He also put more mileage on his odometer over 12 rounds by being forced to back peddle to avoid the exchanges GGG was dishing out, relentlessly.

You're right about GGG could only "chase and throw" due to the tactics of Alvarez feeling the need to be on the move to mitigate risk at the hands of GGG. That's why Golovkin owned the ring as the general and dictated the fight....pace, tempo and distance.

Alvarez was spent, gassed and his output dropped considerably. He didn't dictate the exchanges....when he would exchange it was forced....outside of the opening seconds of some of the later rounds where he rallied off a sequence of punches....but then he got right back on his bike for 2:30 taking punches from GGG

Nah, they didnt have the same accuracy, not even close. I dont believe compubox numbers since years, compubox uses monkeys to press the buttons. I believe my own eye, and gg missed A LOT more than canelo.

A lot of fans don't like compubox when it doesn't favor their guy. But it's accurate. But you're right. GGG missed a lot more because he threw a lot more. Again, that has to do with their respective styles. Who fought who's fight? If Nelo fought his fight GGGs output who have been affected and Nelo's connect percentage wouldn't have been so low.

GGG fought and knocked out bums for the majority of his career that's why he was labeled a boogeyman. Danny Jacobs even exposed him.

Jacobs exposed Golovkin as both being human and a better boxer than Danny Jacobs.
