Did Cassius Clay once avoid Chuvalo?

Once Ali won the title he fought anybody and everybody. And that's how it should be.

It's a business, you invest then you cash in. Managers pull the strings not the fighter.

 

Who cares. No beginner hwt takes on a major league contender early on in their career. Unless they are being mismanaged. Ali fought Chuvalo twice and won going away both times. That's all that we need to know.

 

Yes he did avoid Chuvalo. It was at a diner in Texas, in 1973 or thereabouts.

The only toilet stall was occupied and a great stench of flatulence and defacating came from it. Ali needed a whizz, but faced with this horrifying turn of events, he ran out of the bathroom. It turned out it was Chuvalo in there. A clear duck.

So lets get this straight, Ali faced Listonx2, Frazierx3, Foreman, NortonX2or 3, Shavers, Lyle, Williams, Foster, all with the rep of being murderous punchers and yet avoided Chuvalo? Really? If there is 1 fighter in history that fought all comers it would be Ali.

 

A December 63 Clay would have beaten a December 63 Chuvalo, out...

 

George, while not winning the rounds, did better against Ali in their first go then the result shows. Who else in Ali's near prime often put him on the ropes and landed heavily to the body or landed at all? George was strong and we all know he took everyone's punch but he could also put a powerful body shot on a heavyweight. He came close against both Patterson and Bonavena and its not a stretch that with other judges he might have at least drawn with them so he deserved his top ten ranking. For this posting though its almost funny to imply Ali ever worried about taking on George.
