After the 12th round, Chavez was lifted up as if he'd won the event. He smiled throughout the whole interview and aftermath of the fight.

During the fight, all I could think about was how he looked like a dejected man in there, not like a blood and guts Mexican warrior. He looked more like "Not too bad" Chad Dawson than the son of a legendary champion.

Did he really make Mexico proud simply by scoring a knockdown and having a good minute in the 12th round? Does Chavez Sr. feel his son has even half the heart and instinct that he himself had, creating a proper dynasty?

Before the fight boxing experts, hardcore fans and even some regular fans knew Chavez jr was not at the level of Martinez, Martinez is a p4p top fighter and deservingly so, having said that we backed our guy, the fight played out how EXPECTED, then Chavez almost busted a Chavez-Taylor, at least he didn't bust a Mosley or a Dawson. So yes we are proud he didn't quit. That whole he looked dejected needs to be accredited to Martinez's greatness.

Overall performance was poor but to take the beating the way he did and near snatch the KO in the final minutes showed some guts.

Max asked him twice what did he feel this fight did for the Chavez family image (something like that).....and he ducked it both times.

I'm not Mexican but I was disappointed in his performance. He has a solid chin yet didn't want to take a few to give a few. Every time he threw he landed, but only in the perfect low risk situations. Very dzinziruk like. The frustrating part is that he got hit A LOT anyway, so why not go for broke in the eighth round or so when it was clear that Martinez wasn't fading and he needed a home run punch to win.

Id say he did the beatin he was taking and he came close to a knockout towards the end my face dropped when I seen him in the last round I was going for Martinez but was still shocked that the kid came out in the 12th after taking such a beatin and nearly getting the KO victory

Kid clearly lacks discipline. Without it, he wont have a very good future.
