    Yes and no.

I didn't think he could hurt Martinez, he did.

And no, because like everyone else has said, I thought he would apply more pressure, not just follow Martinez around and wait for Martinez to stand still rather than to try corner him.

He fought just as I expected him to. Couldn't handle movement slow and limited.

No, he didn't do **** when he had Martinez cornered. Which he was able to do on occasion, that is what would have to change if he wants to win a rematch.

Of course we can't take away the fact that he may have not wanted to throw in close because he was getting tagged constantly in the nose and gut with sharp punches. Maybe he learned that if you are going to be getting tagged anyways, you might as well be throwing back. I think the fight actually boosted Jr's confidence to a new level because of what he found out about himself in the ring last night. He was taken to the brink of where most guys would find a way out, but he didn't take that route, he took his beating and almost turned the fight around in a huge way. If he had finished the job it would have went down as one of the most amazing comebacks in boxing history.

He showed heart and size advantage. The only two things I ever saw on him.

The only thing that surprised me was his chin, I thought that Sergio would've cracked his chin after hitting it with many power shots, but I guess that 20 pounds advantage helped him take those shots/

A huge ring definitely made it more difficult. There's a reason people ask for it in negotiations (SRL demanded and got a huge ring before the Hagler fight.) I'm not saying the huge ring was the only reason he couldn't corner him, but it was definitely part of it.

His performance, honestly was not that good. He got clearly dominated. His success at the end of the 15th round had more to do with Martinez than it had to do with what Chavez jr was doing. Chavez jr was doing the same thing, it just so happens that Martinez bravado got the best of him, and he stayed in too close, while being tired as ****. Right before the round, he was exhausted. This is a 37 year old man, mind you, and he had to keep up a unbelievable pace.

Chavez had a lucky ass punch. Why? Because what he did in the 12th he didn't come close to achieving at anytime in the fight, and was getting raped.

Martinez should not waste his time with a rematch and just fight GGG, or move up in weight. Perhaps Abraham, or if the Ward fight can happen, fight him. Go for glory. Perhaps fight the ginger Canelo at a catch weight. Chavez is not at that level, and only had success because Martinez got tired and his weight was WELL above LHW. Did you see how big he was compared to Martinez?!?!? He was huge, looked like two different weight classes. Chavez doesn't deserve a rematch.

I'm not going to lie, it was a exciting and surprising 12 round. I give Chavez credit for landing that combo, and hurting Martinez that bad. But really, Chavez had a supreme advantage in terms of lbs.

The reasoning behind a rematch is that he managed to KD Martinez in the last round, where Martinez, while really hurt, managed to still fight back, recover, and survived the round. The guy tore ligaments in his knee, which explains why he was behaving in the way he was after the KD. So Chavez only had success in the last round. People remember the most, and often mistaking judge a fight by what happens in the last minuet that they see. They forget how badly Chavez was losing, how he wasn't even landing anything, nothing like his father against Taylor. Now lets say if Chavez did this in the 2nd round, but Martinez went on to dominate him relentlessly like he did, would people ask for a rematch? Probably not. Another example, lets take Mayweather vs Mosley, lets say Mosley instead of having success in the 2nd had it in the 12 after being completely dominated, would that merit a rematch? Nope.

More than likely Martinez is going to do it, as Chavez is a cash cow, and people thinking about the 12th round of a fight where Chavez got his ass whooped and made to look like an amateur, Martinez looked like RJJ in there, that's how bad Chavez was. So there like, he almost got the KO, if only he tried earlier, he wouldve got it. He knows he can hurt martinez NOW yay. What that idiot Kellerman doesn't understand is that Chavez has to be able to LAND the big shots to hurt him. Not at any point besides the 12th could he land a damn thing and punches he did land had little affect on Martinez besides a round where he was exhausted.

It wasn't a huge ring, that is the size all rings are in Vegas. 20 by 20

i expected jr. to do better but there were a lot of posters here that predicted jr was going to get punished just about/more than margo against pac.

    own up to it.
