anyone seen tua-byrd........he had business at heavy.

none looked that good agasint tua. even lewis looked lumbering and unagile at times.
he shoudl of gone to cruiser later in his career by about 2005 when his agility and speed was starting to slip.

moorer and byrd were MUCH slicker and moorer punched MUCH harder than chambers...even in that byrd crucified tua with a left uppercut in the mid rounds.

chambers doesnt have alot of pop, it took him ages to get rid of rossy, and that was on a swollen eye, dimitrenko was largely untested...and did get up. just hadnt fought anyone with that accuracy that chambers has.

i like chambers defence all honesty. trying to tee of on him gets you countered. i like his countering very solid and the combos are nice and smooth.

Joe Calzaghe had beaten Byrd as Middleweight in 1992 as an amateur, for what it's worth.

Roy would have KO'd him too, we are talking a prime Roy Jones Jr. Byrd would have been at best like Montel Griffin.

Moorer had a perfect knock out percentage at the lower weights and was one of the best knock out artists of all time. If he would have stayed at Lt. Heavyweight I don't think anyone would be able to beat him, at heavyweight he was beaten because bigger guys like Foreman and Tua knocked him out. But he in my opinion is a legit ATG. Byrd is not in the same class of fighter as Moorer unless he wins titles in the lower weights which I doubt he can.

You're right, Byrd is a good man and tried to be a great champion, but by the time he got his big break winning the IBF belt from Holyfield, his career was nearly over, it's not fair to Byrd but that's the way things work sometime, Byrd could've beaten McCline and Oquendo a lot clearer around 2000 or so. Golota always had the jab and size to give Byrd problems though.

Byrd did not make a mistake fighting at heavyweight, but he did make a mistake signing with King.

I agree with whoever said he probably wouldn't have been as effective at the lower weights.

He's not fighting out of shape, flat footed slowpokes in those lower weight classes. He's fighting guys with good hand and foot speed, and conditioning.

Evading slow ass punches from guys that are gassed in 3 rounds, for a guy like Byrd, wasn't that tough - so long as he could take it when they did land, and most of the time, he could.

He couldn't have pitty patted his way to points wins in the lower weights.

Byrd used his size to his advantage, until he fought Klitschkos.

James Toney vs Chris Byrd at CW would of been a good match.
