Did Comeback George Have The Greatest Heavyweight Chin Of All Time?

Best chin - George Chuvalo and Oliver McCall is right up there.

 

I think it would make more sense to just argue that George had an all time great chin.

In regards to Foreman facing Tyson:

It is important to remember Razor Ruddock. Ruddock was not stopped easier by Lewis, than by Tyson, because Lewis' offense is any more potent. It had to do with size, height and reach in particular. Ruddock was able to place his forearms on Tyson's shoulders, due to Ruddock's superior height. Placing one's weight on a shorter opponent's shoulders makes the shorter fighter punch with a bit of resistance.

Foreman, one that has always liked a good shoving match, would feel quite at home using a strategy like this against Tyson. It's no guarantee to work on a fighter as fast as Tyson. Remember how Tyson began springing to one side, then the other, against Buster Mathis Jr. Mathis was attempting to smother Tyson. Still, Foreman deserves at least a chance. Foreman's size, jab, chin, and strength deserve him that.

 

Holyfield seriously hurt George on at least two occassions - the 3rd and 9th rounds. Foreman appeared saved by the bell in both of those rounds. Foreman was hurt and his whole body shook by a single right hand from Holyfield in the 9th. Foreman was ooooohhh so lucky the bell rang!

 

He was considerably more relaxed, and knew he was going to be taking the shots, so that probably aided his abilty to whether those moments when he might have been buzzed a bit by a punch.

Actually i dont even know why they study half the things they do, maybe they just have nothing better to do with their time.

Still, go punch someone in the nose when they are 25 years old and in shape, and then do it 20 years later when they weigh twice as much. Then tell me who has the better punch resistance.

A chin has very little to do with actual weight. Fitness, muscle strength, will to win, how you take the shot etc are easily the most important factors. Weight (and we are talking excessive weight not natural weight) has virtually no effect whatsoever. Although technically it probably may make the head slightly harder to move back when it is hit clean, because it is heavier to move, but most heavyweights hit that hard, that a tiny amount of head weight increase is going to make zero difference.

 

Foreman took some absolute howitzers from Tommy Morrison that would have felled most other heavyweights. Foreman looked like crap in that fight, but his chin was top notch!

 

I'd put my money on George Chuvalo as having the greatest heavyweight chin of all time.

 

I noticed SuzieQ is a moron. Every post this person make it only makes a bigger fool out of itself. Tyson ducked Foreman because he knew he couldnt win. Tyson knows his abilities better than you so try again. Tyson would knock Foreman out just like he did Buster Douglas. By laying flat on his back.

Punchy how many times did you get in the ring with Foreman, Lewis, Tyson ect ect ect? None right? Holyfield said numerous times that Foreman punched harder and was stronger than Lewis. Lewis also had a weak chin. Foreman never mentioned Lewis because Lewis wasnt a big money fight. Foreman wanted Tyson and Tyson ducked him.

Ray Mercer fought both Morrison and Lewis and Morrison was the much better puncher, Mercer also said Bert Cooper was a better puncher than Lewis and neither of these guys destroyed Foreman. Briggs punches hurt Lewis so why wouldn't Foreman be able too? Foreman had a better jab, was stronger, had a harder punch and had a better chin and Briggs had Lewis in trouble before he got gassed out. Foreman wouldnt have gassed himself out. He would of knocked Lewis out plain and simple

Either way come back Foreman showed he had a class A chin.
