I want to hear some of your opinions on this subject. This thread is not to bash Cotto in anyway. I am a Cotto fan but I was in a argument with someone yesterday and want to hear your views about this. In your opinion, did he quit?

    Yes.

But he deserves huge credit for getting on there in the first place, and for staying in there for as long as he did. And for insisting they use 8oz gloves aswell.

What else could you call it? But he did take a fair beating so it's understandable in a way.

Mex you already know my oppinion no he did not quit.

I think he has just unable to continue as opposed as not wanting to continue.

Strictly speaking yes, but he had nothing left to give and I don't blame him in the slightest.

Although he quit I wouldn't say he was a quitter, if that makes any sense??

No, he didn't quit. He conceded defeat. There's a difference.

Yeah, I feel the same way. He had nothing left physically to give so I wouldnt classify that as quitting.

Did Sam Peter concede defeat also? I mean, he at least knew how far he was behind in the scorecards. Cotto had no idea whether or not he was behind. People concede defeat when they know they are hopelessly behind.

He took a knee to avoid being knocked out, to hopfully make it to the 12th round, his corner threw in the towel. So no he didnt quit, but he was hurt really bad.

I think he took the knee wanting either the ref or his corner to stop it, not to get to the 12th.

Do you think Cotto could continue after the second knockdown?

Yes. It may not have been wise to continue, but he could've continued. He wasn't dazed or out on his feet.

Really? He looked physically tired and his legs were gone not to mention it was hard for him to breathe. I highly doubt he could of continued especially the way Margarito always puts the pressure on.
