Quitting has too many negative conatations like he didn't try hard enough or some other such ****. I prefer the term conceeded or submitted after giving it his all.
1. Sometimes it's easy to know something when it is right in front of your eyes. Do you honestly believe Cotto has much left and he could produce 2 more competitive rounds, or rather would have been knocked out? I lean towards the latter, judging from the way he looked during round 11 (breathing heavily and being a bloody mess). 2. I never said he couldn't have continued. Of course he could. But he was getting hurt too much and didn't have the strength to keep up with the relentless Margarito for 4-5 more minutes, so it was pointless to continue and he knew it. Nothing wrong with that.
This is just wrong and you know it. On the first knockdown he even got hit AFTER he took the knee. In the second one yeah, he went down without getting hit, but he had received much punishment throughout the fight. That's not lack of heart mate, the guy gave his all and lost to the better man that night. I find it funny when people talk behind their computer screen about "fighters lacking heart".
Fact: I used him as an example of something. Not trying to make the thread about him. Fact: Cotto quit. He admitted to it.
Im referring to the 2nd one. Cotto look discouraged as if he had said he had no chance to himself because he couldn't hurt Margo and decided to throw in the towel. To me that lacks a bit of heart, but its one fight. Im sure Cotto will come back stronger.
