You are arguing that Dempsey’s second fight with Flynn was a dive, but you seem to be quite dismissive of the evidence that the first fight was a dive, despite testimonies under oath!

If the second fight was a dive, wouldn’t that reinforce the idea that the first fight was a dive?

As in “you throw one each, then the last one is on the level?”

This is just another example of being able to find anything you want to find within mass media. Does not in any way make it true. This was a well covered hwt fight and boxers are notorious bad actors. If indeed their was any real signs this bout was rigged it would have made headlines coast to coast in every newspaper.

Lying is a harsh word which you cant prove so why say it? Remember this and this holds true even now, newspaper writers don't know the full story. There was a lot going on at that time. What I don't understand is why would anybody think Dempsey was ducking or afraid to face Wills, watch the existing vid's that should be proof enough that Wills was underwhelming. Jeez, a 165 pd Greb would have made Wills look silly, c'mon.
Senya, I don't mean to be confrontational but why say something about a fighter who brought so much to boxing. Why focus on the negatives when there are so many good things to say about boxing in general.

Please show me where I put forth the argument that the 2nd Flynn fight was a dive.

I await your apology, apostasy and apoplexy.

This is just another example of being happily ignorant of contemporary opinion and satisfied with spoon fed narrative with money behind it.

How does one answer a mess formatted and quoted like this.

Tell us more how Gans-McGovern WASN'T a fixed fight... That is a full evening's worth of entertainment for sure.

Yes I do, and you cant prove otherwise, oh yeah I forget you have articles. In this instance we have tape and very good quality tape. If you know anything about fighting and fighters then it would be fairly obvious that the fight was on the level.
Gans got hit and caught cold, it happens but in your conspiracy filled world, it had to be a fix. Go to the tape and if you still cant see it, then it confirms my opinion of your boxing knowledge. You choose to believe articles based on rumors with no facts to back it up, then your own eyes.

Its not that complicated, easy to digest watch the tape. And if you are still of the mind don't bother I am not going to go back and forth on your opinion based on articles. I have a mind and eyes and years of experience in the fight game to judge for myself and not be influenced by articles with unsubstantiated rumors and hearsay evidence the tape is plain enough

If Dempsey lied then Wills himself lied as he stated openly in the press years later that Dempsey was not responsible for the bout not occurring.

Funny thing is the timeline regarding Dempsey Wills has been well known for 90 years. No blame was cast against Dempsey.

So again, your opinion based on godknowswhat in 2016 is more informed than observers of the sport in 1918 in regards to these specific fights.

AND... McGovern-Gans was on the up-and-up despite the fact that the performance caused Illinois to ban boxing for 26 years.

Thanks for the kickin' down k-nowledge, brah!

Just complete garbage. Seamus adds to his legacy of adding nothing aside from purposeful distortions for his own twisted amusement.

Seamus provides purposeful distortions for his own twisted amusement. Who do you think you are trying to fool? Everyone can see what you are trying to do.

Funny. None of you can reply with any contemporary accounts to refute those that I post.

Beware, many more to come. So dug your head deeper in the sand.
