Did Dirrell fake it?

i cant make my mind up on this:huh. i cant help trying to compare hatton sparked on the floor and dirrel:bbb. if u go by that (i know its not the best thing om do) then he's defo faking it but crying in the ring thinking he got knocked out kinda makes me feel he didnt know wat was going on:think

 

he kinda went down abit careful aswell if u know wat i mean. as if he didnt want to hurt himself

 

Dunno. It looks suspicious, he winced, rubbed his eye, laid down then rolled under the rope then laid out. I think it hurt him and he made the most of it tbh. The crying at first and thinking he lost worked for a bit, then he kept on going even after being told, as if he was making sure the cameras caught his confusion.

 

He was convulsing then within seconds initiates the move into recovery position. On the Stall he is one moment out for count then he sneaks a look around when doc isn't looking. He made a meal of what happened, He's got previous, He was winning with ease but was starting to get caught and opted for easier way out imo,

Maybe hoping for timeout or a points deduction. It's a DQ and there can be no excuses for AA.

 

I agree with the general sentiments on this thread.

He was undoubtedly badly hurt, and certainly made the most of the situation he found himself in.

Whether he could have continued given a timeout, nobody knows/will know.

As to whether you think he did the right thing...... depends how cynical you are :yep

 

Not sure, but I do think AA had a 30% chance to stop him, if the fight had continued without the illegal blow.

 

As always, spot on, Mandanda. When I first saw the incident as I was watching the fight I was certain that Dirrell took advantage of the situation and knew full-well what was going on. Dirrell knew he was in for some really tough rounds and looked completely lucid after he was hit all of a sudden to then fall gracefully without hitting his head on the canvas. For what it's worth, Dirrell also didn't get diagnosed with a concussion either. If Dirrell did take a dive, I am also slightly disappointed with AA for allowing Dirrell to take advantage of the situation as we all know what kind of underhand tactics Dirrell employs to gain advantages.

As an aside, if Dirrell did make the most out of the situation to get a DQ, it puts a horrible mark on a fantastic performance; he thoroughly deserved the win and it's perhaps his own doing that people are talking more about the DQ than the performance of his life against the beast that is King AA. It also sullies what was a brilliant fight and one that was becoming very interesting prior to the DQ.

Who really knows what happened, though. I'm just giving my thoughts on the matter, but I do find it amazing that Dirrell ate some really hard shots during the fight only to then go down softly from a glancing blow.

 

That no-one has voted "he did not fake it" is in itself somewhat telling. I voted "not sure" but the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking that Dirrell had taken as much punishment as he was comfortable with and opted for the safe and easy way out. As Losfer said, it tarnishes a surpisingly impressive performance.

First time I watched was pretty sure that it was legit, but he was clearly aware of what was going on when he first took the punch and reacted self-consciously.

The thing I'm thinking really is there a pattern of behaviour from him and was their a motive to do it. For both I'd say yes so best guess is he faked it.

 

my gut, honest instinct on seeing it for the first time, was this is BS, the reaction time between the blow, and him going down was too pronounced for it to be genuine. And i still haven't changed my mind having seen it again since. Tarnishes a great display from a very talented boy.
Makes you wonder though if AA was finally getting to him, and he saw his way out.

All te over emotional bollocks though, "let me breath" was really gay though
