I reckon thats a bit of a grey area imo. the commentators said he thought he had been KO'd but if you listen to what Andre was saying he wasnt crying because he thought he was beaten, he was upset because he didnt handle the punch. He knew at that point he had won coz as the interviewer was trying to tell him he won he nodded in agreement and said i know, i was hit when i was down. Bit of a crossed wires scenario
he took the shine off his performance with that fake ko, i know you can get delayed reactions but i thought that was a temple shot screwing with your equilibrium i.e. standing up to jelly legs
the punch was more on the chin of Dirrell(actually on his cheek bone) than hes temple . I guess u believed Andre BS and took his word for it that it was on the temple
I guess you can't read, I said I thought delayed knockdowns were caused by temple shots, I'm aware he got one on the chin from AA that was my point. :good
I don't know, straight away at the time I thought he was just making the most of it, probably based a good bit on the fact that I think he's the sort that would try it as well. Plus the momentum of the fight was swinging away from him. But after watching the replay, he did take a big shot, and I believe him more after his confusion in the interview. I thought it was pretty convincing on the night. I figured all the rumblings about him faking it was just usual General Forum bollocks. After reading this thread though I might go back and watch it again. EDIT: Either way, listening to him crying in that interview was some horrible ****.
Im still not quite sure, it certainly is a bizarre KO if its real...his reactions after the punch do look very dodgy but I dont think all that BS afterwards was acting, he legitimately looked like he didnt know what the **** was going on. If it was an act then fair play to him, hes a good actor
The mans a disgrace. Theres no way around the DQ, but imo the correct decision would be to call a no decision and throw the **** out of the tournament. If he was a Brit I'de be asking that he be shot for extreme acts of cowardice.
I'm as unsure as I could be. Just don't know. Was convinced it was fake to begin with. He's a hell of an actor if he faked it though, that's my main worry about pronouncing him a cheat... he made his mind up in a split second to do it and had the docs concerned.
My opinion . . . I think the punch knocked him out but he recovered before he hit the floor. If you watch his body movement after the punch landed you'll see he went backwards and to his right. The backwards motion was halted by the rope and he couldn't fall to his right because of the position his body/leg was in. As he was out and limp his body started to move back to his left (which is where he fell) when the rope and his leg stopped him from falling back or right but he recovered at this point, which is when is hand came up to his face. Those convulsions while he was lying under the rope are not right given how quickly he was moving his arms around and lying on his side afterwards. Notice he made no attempt to get up either, which is common reaction for an ego bruised fighter laid out. I think he made the most of a bad move from AA. :|
