Yes, for the first 8 rounds it was as one sided as it gets although AA was having a bit of success from round 9 onwards I still had Dirrell winning all but one round of the fight.

He was pretty dominant for the first few rounds, as you expect with Abraham. After that, Abraham definitely started to come into the fight a bit more and I agree with the assessment that there was an inevitable change in the fight. However, the DQ happened and we will never know. I think it would have been close towards the end though and a Abraham stoppage or points win wouldn't have surprised me.

I wouldn't say Dirrell was 'schooling' him. He was simply taking full advantage of Arthur’s incredibly slow starts to fights, and built up a massive lead in the process. Arthur has no one but himself to blame for that.

But as soon as Arthur stepped on the gas he was giving Dirrell a world of trouble. He was definitely feeling them bombs whenever he was trapped against the ropes. So what did he do? He began running, slipping, falling and weaseling out of any traffic coming his way. The dude was in survival mode, and the remaining rounds would have been very interesting.

It was an unfinished fight, and one that I don’t regard as a valid enough blemish on Arthur’s record. So no, Dirrell was not 'outclassing' Abraham before the illegal shot. He was 'running' from him.

    Dirrell was up 98-91, 97-92 and 97-92.

So how the **** could Abraham have won on points, when the fight was stopped in the 11th?

Even if Abraham won the 11th, he'd still have been 6 points down on 1 card, and 4 down on the other 2. Are you suggesting Abraham would have scored 4 knockdowns in the final round?

People should engage their brains before typing, I think.

I don't think he was taking into consideration the actual scorecards at the time. He was merely saying the gap was rapidly closing when Abraham began hunting Dirrell. Which is true, and Dirrell knew it.

Dirrell outclassed him for much of the bout, but Abraham was coming back into it fast. Dirrell looked tired and was starting to feel the power. The thing that pissed me off most about the illegal shot/dive was that I thought Abraham was going to win late, which would've made it a great fight.

Dirrell was ahead on the score cards, would not say AA was outclassed and he had a KD which should have counted. Having said that Dirrell was gonna win if it went the distance.

Yeah, even his trainer said he thought he was 7-8 rounds down. And that's from his trainer!

Abraham was far enough behind that he needed either a KO or 3 knockdowns I believe. Although it should have been a bit closer as he dropped Dirrell and Cole didn't count it (I forget which round).

Not so much a case of Dirrell outclassing him as Abraham just didn't do anything until after the 6th or 7th round. Once Abraham started fighting he was the one outclassing Dirrell, though that may have been down to Dirrell being tired from pounding on Abraham the whole fight. Horrible gameplan from Abraham and a good performance by Dirrell.

Also, why don't you watch the fight? It's on youtube...

Dirrell used his physical advantages; height, reach, speed, reflexes, et really well throughout the first 10 rounds. I just watched the fight again the other day, and Andre took some pretty big shots at different points in a few rounds, and wasn't bothered. He frustrated AA at every turn. I think the frustration is what caused the foul.

I agree with those who assert that Dirrell was far ahead, but not necessarily outclassing Abraham. The menace of Abraham was too long in coming, but a come-from-behind knockout was looming as a definite possibility before the bizarre ending.

Erm, I think he was taking into consideration the actual scorecards at the time, I think that's probably why he said "a points win for Abraham wouldn't have surprised me". You do know that points are tallied on scorecards, yes?
