Did Don King ruin pro sports, boxing in general?

With all due respect, at least 20 people have been murdered in the last five years in gang/drug wars involving the guy putting the Fury-Joshua fight together.

So many people are dead and so many people currently want to kill the Fury-Joshua matchmaker, he's in hiding in Dubai. And HE IS the matchmaker.

Do you refuse to watch MTK Global cards because of all the blood being spilled? Because of all the people who have overdosed? Because of all the people who have been shot by the weapons they are bringing into Ireland? Crimes actually going on NOW. While fights are being put together.

When you think of the upcoming Joshua-Fury fight, are YOU not going to remember all the people who have been killed?

Or do you just reserve your soap box for Don King over a fight in the streets that happened 50 years ago before he ever got involved in the sport? With all due respect.

Lol. No. I dont reserve my "soap box" for Don King, lol. But he's a murderer. You want to defend that he is a murderer (for money) because he is a good boxing promoter? Feel free, with all due respect.

He was arrested for getting into a street fight and the guy he was fighting died. He was convicted. He went to jail. Did his time. Got out. Changed his life. Which is what he was supposed to do. And he not only did that, he became a millionaire who made 100 other boxers millionaires and put on most of the fights we talk about on this board.

Let me know when the guy CURRENTLY running drugs, guns, ordering murders and putting on Fury-Joshua gets convicted of all the killings he's ordered.

    LOL.

Once again, Don King has lived long enough that everything he was villified for seems tame compared to what other 'promoters' have done or are doing RIGHT NOW. And nobody bats an eye about them.

I didn't know Don King when he was fighting people in the streets over gambling debts. I knew him when he was a promoter. And he gave fans their money's worth. That's what I'll remember.

He played his part in the sport’s decline but it wasn’t exclusively just him.

You want to practice what aboutism thats your business. But he was convicted of attacking a guy that he outweighed by a lot of weight because the the guy owed him money. He beat him to death on a Cleveland street and only did a few years over it. Lucky fellow. You want to excuse that behavior because he "gave fans their money's worth," Rock on. He got away with murder plain and simple.

You said it better than I ever could have. Don King, if nothing else, knew how to put on a show.

He got into a fight in the streets with a guy over a gambling debt. The guy he was fighting with died. King was convicted and sent to the prison, as would happen with anyone involved in a street fight where one guy goes down and doesn't get up. And he did his time and he got out. And he left that life and became the biggest boxing promoter in the world.

Serving time. Getting out. And rehabilitating yourself isn't "getting away with it." It's doing what you're supposed to do. (LOL)

Like I said, let me know when the drug runner, guns runner, murderer putting together Fury-Joshua serves a day for his CURRENT crimes.

And let me know when you spend one minute THINKING about all who died at his hands each time you watch an MTK Global card. (LOL)

When Carl Frampton fights Jamel Herring on the MTK Global show (with the crappy undercard) next month, I'll be sure to check all the threads to see if everyone bashing King is lighting a candle for all who died in the lead up to that one. (Rolls eyes)

I dont even know what an MTK global card is. Please explain. Having written that, a man owed him money. He pistol whipped him then stomped him to death. He got a 15 year sentence. He did 4 years and was pardoned by the governor. Yes. He got away with murder.

    Another Jack Newfield regurgitator.

Don King won a street fight that ended in one guy dying. And he went to jail for it. And served years for it. And rehabilitated himself. Sorry, not going to bash him forever over it. That's what supposed to happen when you get out of jail.

He turned Christy Martin into a superstar ...so I don’t think women’s boxing or Women’s MMA would be where it is today without him

I am not a Jack Newfield reguritator. You don't know me. I don't you. So stop with the nonsense. Here are the facts. Man A perceives that man B owed man A money because of a fricking gambling debt, which he probably did. Man A attacks man B, whom he outweighed by a lot, with a pistol. Man A then stomps him to death. Man A gets a 15 year sentence but is pardoned by the governor after 4 years. If you are ok with that, please continue.

You are regurgitating what Jack Newfield wrote. You weren't there on that corner. Neither was he. A cop saw the last punch (or kick). King was pardoned years later because he had rehabiltated himself. That's what you are supposed to do when you get out of jail.

There's an old saying that no one is as bad as the worst thing they've done.

Clearly, some people ONLY dwell on the worst someone has done.

I'll remember him as the best promoter a boxing fan ever had. If others like you prefer to dwell on what happened 50 years ago before he ever got into the sport and not on any accomplishments after that, so be it.

There's always someone that only focuses on the bad. Your issues are not my problem.

    Bye.

I am not dwelling on anything. Hes a ****ing murderer. And he got away with it. If you're ok with that, fine. At least own up to it. "Theres always someone that focuses on the bad," yup, murder lol. Cheers
