Leonard always beats Duran, as long as he fights the right fight and Duran fights the wrong fight, which means there is a 50\50 chance that he always wins.

And only an idiot would suggest that that's the chief difference between his movement vs Green and his movement vs. Duran. Are you that idiot? :think It's hard to tell with the passive-aggressive sarcasm.

Leonard isn't more elusive than Ray Lampkin, Duran was just more effectively aggressive against Lampkin.

No mortal human could ever use lateral movement to keep a motivated, in shape Duran off of them-- Duran's super powers would never allow it! The Viruet fight was just a mirage:

Your not using ironic hyperbole to support your argument, you are just exaggerating the opposing viewpoint's claim to such cartoonist extremes that you have accomplished nothing.

Referencing a fight where Duran disected and knocked out an elusive defensive fighter who would beat Alexis Arguello....helps your argument?

Duran was so bad at cutting off the ring, he had a little trouble before he brutalized and knocked out the savy mover who would go on to outbox a prime all time great.

I was also referencing the tiny, no-power-having former junior lightweight who was coming off a loss to the immortal Vincente Mijares. The one who had already lost to several no-name opponents. If Duran had such unparalleled ring-cutting magic powers that he prevented SRL from using his wheels, imagine how quickly he would have gotten rid of Viruet and Fernandez!! Neither of those poor guys would have lasted three rounds.

I made a good point for the side of rational adult boxing fans who recognize that even with his superhuman ring-cutting-off powers, Montreal Duran could not have prevented Ray Leonard from running around the ring had Leonard not been so intent on fighting flat-footed and minimizing his movement. But you already knew that. :good

Now close your eyes and imagine in Fernandez's place a much bigger, longer, taller, equally elusive and skilled, far more powerful and explosive puncher with a better jab. Imagine that the decided that he wanted to use as much movement as possible to frustrate Duran, take away his offense, and score points from outside.

Q: What do you think would happen?

A: See Leonard - Duran II

Well whatever SRL intent was, the fact is Duran pinned him against the ropes and batered the hell out of him in rounds 3 and 4.

Why SRL would allow Duran to do that if he had other options is a bit of a mystery to me.

Guess he was just a glutton for punishment.
