    The best way to beat a superior boxer is to throw lots of punches and press him. To do this, you need a lot of stamina, some guts, and a decent enough chin. You're not going to win on the outside, and Duran had a very short reach!

    So the plan was sound.

    Sugar Ray's was not. He could have used tied Duran up on the inside more often, and made him pay with punches while closing the distance, and worked the body. In the Re-match Sugar Ray fought Duran perfectly.
