When you watch the fight you see Duran attack Leonard and Leonard's legs fly under him. He goes to the ground and the ref immediately calls it a slip. They don't show a replay in between rounds. Did Duran knock him down or was this a slip?
I strongly disbelieve that that was a KD. Duran hit him with a couple light right jabs, but SRL fell launching a monster left hook (which missed), and fell down.
I think it was a push/slip. But, after rewatching that fight, I had forgotten how unimpressive Leonard's offensive output was in that second fight. I had him ahead, but, he spent the majority of the fight just moving. Much fewer exchanges than in their epic first fight. I know there are literally dozens of theories as to why Duran quit. But, after watching it again, one thing is certain: it definitely wasn't because Leonard was putting a hurting on Duran.
No. Looks like Leonard swung and missed with a wide counter-punch while back-pedaling, and then Duran shoved him to the ground.
If it had being a genuine kd then maybe Duran would have been spurred on, and not gotten stomach cramps!!
Very true, ultimately only Roberto himself knows why he quit, but it definitely wasn't due to a beating that's for sure.
