I know Frazier said that Duran reminded him of Charles Manson with the beard but to me he looks scarier without it.

Maybe because that way he could snarl at opponents more clearly.

    With beard.

Way back when such things as facial hair (see also: tattoos) were associated with wild, outlaw types (Rab Duran)

Nowadays such fashions are the domain of poncey try-hards (Chris Algieri)

Do you guys think Duran's opponents were scared by his face?

The beard had the aura of going back to his primal savage nature vs clean shaven and civilized....It is hard to imagine Duran without the beard being as intimidating it gave him a devilish look

I think he was scarier when he was prime and punching holes through people.

The beard makes little difference to me.

Didn't he have a beard when he was face down on the canvas vs Hearns?

    Probably scarier with the beard.

But the clean shaven look was cool when he was at lightweight though. He looked evil even when grinning. He looked like he could be some fascinating, morally ambiguous assassin from a Graham Greene novel. This aura was made All the more pronounced when he was flanked by old Ray Arcel.

there are too many beards, just shave it you lazy trogs. Its not cool its 19th century.

Forgiving religious reasons, though even you guys need to trim it surely.

It ain’t exactly a tropical heatwave outside. Gotta have a beard to keep jaw warm. Even Santa grows a beard at Christmas.
