Read somewhere that when Elvis first met Ali he swept his legs away from him and floored him, Elvis had been practising bogus martial arts with his bodyguards at the time, does anyone know the full story?

Never heard this. Of it happened then my guess was that they were playing around. If a serious brawl or contest had occurred then I’m sure it would have been all over the media like wildfire

    Elvis studied under Bruce Lee.

The true story is it happened one December when they crossed paths in Hollywood.

Ali being Ali, he started bellowing about being the greatest. Being true royalty, the king of rock and roll did not take kindly to this.

“A little less conversation, a little more action,” he said to the champ.

Ali stepped up to him, mugging and shadowboxing. Elvis did not blink, as he had a plan.

He told Ali to look down at his blue suede shoes.

    Muhammad stepped back, puzzled.

Elvis smiled his crooked smile. Trust me, he told Ali: “We can’t go on together with suspicious minds.”

When Ali relaxed, Presley’s training kicked in. He swept the leg and took Ali to the ground.

Ali looked up and asked why.

“You just checked in to the Heartbreak Hotel,” the king replied.

Presley and his entourage turned and headed to the door.

As he stepped out, he looked over has shoulder and told Ali: “You’ll have a Blue Christmas without me.”

When he was gone, a man stepped in suddenly to announce: “Elvis has left the building.”

Ali was always a sucker for kicks to the legs. Watch the Inoki fight.

Ali called Elvis later to apologize.

The gracious king of rock and roll replied, “Uh thanka vera much” and hung up.

It's a natural weakness of boxers. Leg kicks and low take downs are their kryptonite. Any boxer getting into mixed martial artist encounters better study defenses against this.

Ali also asked Elvis where he picked up such down and dirty street fighting moves.

Elvis replied “In The Ghetto” .
