Did everybody catch Nishioka's one punch KO of Gonzalez for the WBC 122lb strap?

But damn Gonzales! :patsch Always had the talent, but never had the punch resistance to get to the next level. :-(

It was a good punch..and it seems like he has a lethal left hand because thats the only way I have seen him finish fights and its usually quite abrupt.

I was wondering when Nishioka was going to come back into the limelight..he showed his ability against Sahaprom..Pushed a near prime VS pretty hard, hard enough to earn a couple of rematches but the 4th fight he got schooled by a fading version of VS. The 2nd fight was close but I thought Sahaprom deserved the nod, it was scored a draw. I havent seen the 3rd fight which was also scored a draw.

Nishioka is a quality fighter. I hope this win will encourage him to fight more fights outside of Japan in the future.

I would also hope that Hasegawa would also get more exposure in North America. Since Chris John is now getting matches here lets hope that more fighters come over to give us a truly international flavor.

This is an international sport, so it would make sense. BTW, when will bute leave montreal?

Poor Jhonny. After getting KO'd by Vasquez, I thought it was just a fluke that he got winded. But after the Penalosa fight and now this one, it exposed how flawed his ability to take a punch really is. Really feel for the guy though, he's got good skills and plenty of heart.

Pretty soon. If all things go well he will fight Froch in Nottingham.

Back on topic, a lot of Japanese fighters can comfortably make more money fighting at home (just like bute did) so when there are fights present that will lure promotions like Teiken overseas then we can see more of these guys.

However, since public interest in Japanese fighters seem pretty low these might be few and far between.

Great win and punch by Nishoka, but hes a very limited fighter and nothing special to get high on.

A C level fighter in Juan Ruiz would outwork him to a decision.

Hopefully unify with Caballero, since the lanky fighter is the only one willing to tango with anyone.
