I was always been of the opinion that Jeff Fenech is a beast H2H and had some seriously impressive credentials and accomplishments.

But since arriving in Thailand, I have fond the Austrlians to be very, veryhostile towards him. They believe him to be a cherry picker.

I actually think Fenech took on some very good challenges considering the amount of fights he had, and at the lowr weights was seriously impressive.

Coupled with te fact I felt he deserved the 1st Nelson fight, I'd say you have a fighter who was great, if not a fighter amongst the top 100 fighters that ever lived.

I don't want to hear of any non-boxing related issues that may have lead to a drop in stature amongst his native fans, as I understand there were several out of the ring issues that caused his stock to drop.

Thailand isawesome boys.........my missus looks about ten:patsch:lol:

    Go steady Eastside Classic.

    Regards, Flea

Well, he didn't face the best guys available at 118-122-126, but then again, who the hell did in those days?

I too hear a lot of Aussies giving Jeff **** for having a stage-managed career, but at the end of the day I say **** them - he beat the best featherweight of the last 25 years. No one can take that away from him.

So, it's Chandler he should've fought? Same rule applies to him really.

You could say he should have fought the likes of Miguel Lora at 118, and Antonio Esparragoza at 126, but no one was eager for unification matches in those days.

Pity though.... Fenech-Lora in particular would have been a ripper fight. I'd take Jeff by a close decision there.

I'll have to go back to my mags but i thought Callejas was very highly regarded at the time. Fenech from memory calls him his hardest fight.

    Exactly.

Most of the Aussies that bag Fenech are kids that simply look at boxrec. He was revered in this country.

Yeah, all the Aussies I've been speaking to are blokes in their 40's and 50's.

    PowerPuncher: :rofl

SS: Lora/Fenech is a truly tantalising stylistic matchup. I'm not sure who I'd pick to be perfectly honest.
