He didn't stutter, when that fight was offered to him it came with strings. It also mean that if he took the fight he'd be locked into his contract with TOP Rank longer which is what Arum wanted. He was also doing some behind the scenes planning hoping that De la Hoya beats Mayorga so that he can prepare for a showdown.

If he took the Margarito fight; long term it would have affected the his wallet significantly. There would be no De la Hoya fight at all. Secondly, not taking the Margarito fight he essentially meant he has far more freedom in deciding who he fights and who he doesn't fight but it also means that Top Rank Fighters would be off limits.

Floyd has never ducked anybody. He's made business decisions that led to him becoming the highest paid fighter in the sport. He's fought and beat better fighters than the clowns he was wrongfully accused of ducking.

  5. Floyd facing Cotto at 154 with Cotto coming off 3 consecutive late stoppages at a weight he seems to be most comfortable ?

Any questions about Floyd avoiding the best should ended already.

This fight is tougher than Martinez cause Sergio dont have the experience and skills that Cotto has. Cotto's resume is as good as they come today.

Did Floyd avoid the best ? No. He needed to fight Cotto or Pac and that is all there is to it.

Floyd's resume is solid....but when you start talking about ranking him with top tier ATG's then your reaching.

His resume from 140 til now can be questioned ..

"During 2004 – 2005, Kostya Tszyu is the true 140-pound world champion and owner of this division. So, rather than repeat his "dare to be great" arrival at lightweight by challenging Castillo, this 1996 Bronze medalist opted to fight Demarcus Corley, Henry Bruseles and Arturo Gatti – not Tszyu"

Cannot be overlooked .I had thought that Shambe Mitchel was on that list as well ..

I think he gets elevated much to high for these fights :

Demarcus Corley, Henry Bruseles . Arturo Gatti ,Shamba Mitchell Zab Judah Carlos Baldimor and Oscar Delahoya ..

Honestly of all the guys above who was on his level when he fought them ?

We don't even have to bring Tsyu into the picture .

Floyd has only fought top 10 lb 4 lb fighters in the world or top 4 ranked in his division since fighting Zab Judah.

Before that Mitchell was just a stay busy fight and Gatti was ranked #1 in the division.

Before that he had to fight 2 title eliminators in Corrales in Bruseles to get to Gatti.

Floyd consistently fights ranked top 10 in the world opponents or top 4 in his division opponents.
