let's get serious in this thread. Has floyd made good business decision yes. Did he avoid margarito i would say yes to a certain degree but the logic behind that decision is this. Margarito for eight million or baldomir for same or more then oscar the cash cow at the time. Looking at floyd earnings i say he made the right decision. Now if we make this argument against floyd did pac avoid soto, guzman, raheem, campbell, juan diaz, holt, bradley, alexander, paul williams, mosley after the margarito fight. There is video proof of roach admiting to not want to fight mosley @ 147. So to my knowledge when fighters like Oscar and to a lesser degree Cotto take on all omers do they get creit. I think we know the answer. Feeding your family comes first. Point 2 when Floyd was @ 130 and taking out Manfreddy, Corrales, Chavez and alltherest was he getting paid. nope so he got smart created a bad boy image and has gotten paid every since. Thanks to Gatti, Hatton and Oscar. Being the most talented fighter oesnt equal the bet paid. Open your yes and follow the game plane already laid out by maywather and get paid. I can say one thing Floyd never ducked a buck.
We wouldn't have doubts if he did. We wouldn't have a ton of "What ifs" if he he really took on the best and didn't retire. This **** wouldn't have gotten here if he did take on the best.
Why Don't you people get that every time jr say "I am a Businessman" he means I am taking the easy option and avoiding the best.
Floyd ducked Clottey!!!! LOL get real FFS!!! Your just listing fighters he has never fought and saying he ducked them!! Why cant you Pacquiao fans just realise both Floyd and Pacquiao are amazing talents that we should relish whilst we get the opportunity? You obviously started riding Pacmans dick after the Oscar fight and are not old enough to know Floyd has been around for a long time. -He is an Olympian -Mosley ducked Floyd twice (once with toothache and another to face Oscar instead) this is common knowledge -Cotto recently admitted he never wanted the Floyd fight (admitted this a couple of weeks ago) -Floyd moved up in weight and fought Castillo twice (research him, he is amazing) -everyone was ducking Margarito back in the day!!! He was known as the baddest man in boxing (modern day Tyson if you like) -Coralles was favourite to beat Floyd and was ranked number 3 pound for pound, Floyd shut him out and dropped him about 5 times. -Here in the UK Mosley was betting Favorite to beat Floyd after his devastating stoppage of Margarito. -Hatton was undefeated when he was KO'd by Floyd (Hatton Beat Tzsyu to become champ) -Arum is a grade A **** we all know this. Floyd bought himself out of his contract hence why he has never fought any top rank fighters. -Floyd let Oscar choose venue, weight, glove size, and even let him have a bigger ring size when they fought.Oscar weighed in at 170lbs fight night, bigger than when he faced Hopkins for the middleweight title!! -Paul Williams is and always has been a no name fighter. why would anyone want to fight a guy with a 15" reach advantage? Medium risk, no reward.
Floyd did not avoid the best, he fought the best, and the one missing to the list is Pac, whatever outcome would the fight bring, atleast he fought Pac, but he is fighting Cotto :good
I think I highlighted many fights which were broken down. If you want to go further back; Freitas didn't want any part of Mayweather even after he beat Casamayor. Floyd on the other hand was getting to big for 130 so he moved up to 135 to fight and beat Jose Luis Castillo a fight that was regarding as a great alternative. And considering how poorly Freitas Casamayor did in terms of revenue, it's likely that Mayweather may have done worse. Oscar De la Hoya used to have a philosophy; "Don't worry about me- I can fight, Just get me the most money..." (paraphrasing) Oscar fought the best. Didn't always win but he fought the very best. But his criteria was clear, he wanted the most possible money for each fight like any sane fighter would. However when Mayweather was faced with situations where couldn't fight the best possible fighters then he immediately opted for a big money alternative. Name a fight that he could have gotten that he didn't take.
Please don't compare Oscar to Floyd Oscar fought the best at their best ! Not what use to be the best .. How is it that Oscar under Arum was able to make the biggest fights possible yet Floyd couldn't :think I know Arum has been an obsticle but both Oscar and Floyd were under Arum yet look at the resumes !
shane may have avoided floyd at that certain time but it's definitely not because of fear. vargas, prime dlh, prime winky all 2x
Nah, only haters and *******s feel that way and accuse Floyd of that because they mad. Floyd fights anyone willing to face him. I know I said I'll try to stop posting on Floyd/Pacq threads that much but I am a fan of his and ironchamp & bball beatin fools down. Didn't know the info on the Wright & Tszyu until I read their posts on here and further supports my claim that Floyd fights anyone willing to face him. Not his fault he is in a soft era full of paper champs and challenge-avoiders. Him and Marciano the only great undefeated fighters I respect 100%. Ward could make that list but let me know when he fights Bute though I still respect him. Also love how people expected him to get buttraped by Arum financially like Pacq is now.
Floyd can't bring ATG's up from the grave to fight. He has fought the best available during his era, obviously acknowledging that he did not fight every top 3 ranked contender in the division during his stay in them. What people refuse to acknowledge is that even the "legendary ring warriors" never always fought the best available.
let's just say the more dangerous, evidence from 01:15 on. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_BWElcszSY[/ame]
LOL. This is your source on it? Wow. Notice the part where he tells em to keep winning...yea he didn't keep winning.:deal You *******s just too blind by pacquiao's **** in your throat. You hate Floyd so muchatsch Your like that chick that tweeted racist remarks to Floyd. I wouldn't be surprised if that is you.
