if floyd had the attitude of pac at 147 and fought all the best and won. say cotto, margarito, williams, had been beaten convincingly could he have ever done anything to be the best ever? what else could he have done?

he had the potential - but then again did pac's team want to put him so much on the line for that amount of cash.

but welcome to the modern world of boxing.

comparing accomplishments of greats from the past to someone like floyd is going to fade more and more because the business will come first.

from that perspective it's hard to line him up against them - but get use to it.

He never had the potential, because he never had the balls, longevity or activity. The first especially is an intangible arrtibute, every bit as important as a jab or footwork if you want to become the greatest, so its kinda pointless to speculate.

Hell no!!!!!!!!!!!! Not even close, y do u guys give this scary ***** so much credit. Oh thats right, he brutalized baldomir. Or was it maybe the destruction of a blown up junior welter. Floyd has talent, but never had the balls to test himself against great opposition

    Balls?

any fighter who steps into the ring has balls son -- anyone who goes up against a champion has balls ... anyone who makes it to the top p4p level has balls.

I don't know if you've ever been in a fight but it takes alot to be able to hit and get it ... no one and I mean no one likes to get hit ...

I think that you've got your definition of "balls" wrong ... and everyone on these boards knows that money and publicity was Mayweather's ulitimate motivator ... and if it made dollars - it always made sense for Mayweather.

He woulda fought anyone on his way up and once he reached p4p status for the right price he woulda fought someone the public thought he had no chance against. (ex. Jermain Taylor - Kelly Pavlik )

This guy offered fights to Nasim Hamed, Shane Mosley, Winky Wright, Miguel Cotto (at 140) and Kostya Tszyu ... I don't know if that equates balls in your book but that sure does in mine.

is that in the same way that you won't tell us why he fell short?

either say why you don't believe it or don't.

you can't win an oscar here so you choose - before you post.

H2H he's in the argument. P4P he's not. If he could have gotten fights against younger Oscar, Mosley, and Tszyu, unified welter and maybe captured a strap at middleweight, he would be ranked number 1 P4P even by the most ardent Floyd hater and old black and white huggers.
