    Not sure if this applies, and it's kind of funny considering how he acted and talked, but I don't think he was as confident in his abilities as he acted. If you feel you're the best, you take on the best at their best, you don't play the waiting game or impose all these weight restrictions on fights. The speaks to somebody who not totally sure about their abilities.
