EDIT: Horrible Thread Title. I want to say 'Should Floyd have fought these fighters, why didn't he"

Reading some interesting articles on Floyd. I am a HW Fan and not really interested in the tiny fighters, but Floyd have recently captured my attention because he is such an amazing athlete.

I admit I never gave a **** about Pacquko or Floyd but couple of questions to Floyd experts.

1- How come he didn't move up in weight sooner? When Tito was around and when Oscar was young?

I suspect it is because he is a natural lightweight and need to move up slowly in weight, hence missing out on Tito and Young Oscar. If I'm wrong, correct me.

My other theory is that back then nobody knew Floyd so he can't get big fights.

2- A lot of articles and 'haters' claim Floyd ducked the 'following fighters'

    Magarito-Paul Williams-Pacquaio-Undefeated Cotto (2008-2010)

    and recently
    Martinez
Is there any truth to this? Do you honest think he avoided any of the five during those years?

If you ask a ***** hes the most ducked fighter in history.

They think having a video of him calling everyone from 154 down out proves anything.

    Simpletons.

The only fighter that people claim Floyd avoided, that could beat him is probably Sergio Martinez. Due to a big size advantage.

I really would like to know why he didn't move up in weight sooner during the early 2000's-mid 2000's though. Seem like there could have been some mega fights with Trinidad-Oscar-Mayorga etc

Oh one more question. I'm totally lost when it come to the small weight classes.

But why did Floyd never fight Barrerra an Morales.

Is it two completely different weight classes??

They were never in the same weight class as Floyd, when he was at Lightweight they were at Superbantam/Featherweight. (3/2 classes below)

He didn't move up in weight slowly, he spent the longest period of his career fighting and dominating at SFW, after that he was moving up in weight pretty regularly.

Don't know for certain but it is likely he ducked one or two.

I do know that his rep is forever tarnished along with Pacquiao's for not making the fight happen 3 years ago. What could have been a megafight and fight of the decade, it just turned out to be bull****.

I blame them both but Pacquiao a little more, and now if the fight happens, I believe it will be a huge let down.

I don't think it would be a letdown. Pacqioua has obviously had the otugher journey, but he's a yr or 2 younger than Roid.
Just b/c they're both past their best doesnt change the FACT they're still #1 and #2 p4p in the world.
It may have been a bigger more defining fight 2-3 yrs ago, but if it happens next yr, the winner will obviously be placed in the top 5 ATG WWs and the loser will remain in the top 10. JUST IMO.

Well to be honest I dont think he ducked anyone, he always just looked where the money was. If you listen to Floyd talk then its all about money. People say he ducked Margarito for 8 million dollars, I think he made a very smart move by winning the welterweight championship of the world and then fighting Oscar De La hoya at 154 for the fight that generated the most money in boxing history. The Pacquiao fight was very close to happen but as we all know it was because of the drug test incident which Pac refused. I dont blame Floyd, I was thinking the same thing when Pac knocked out so many and looked unreal.

why didn't Floyd move up sooner? Because he's fricken small. The only weight he legitimately outgrew was 130. He could have stayed at 135 much longer and everytime he moved up after that was for a big fight

The names I kept hearing over the years (in regard to Mayweather and 'ducking') were prime Cotto, Margarito, Williams and of course Pac.

Whether he really did duck any of them is debatable. I do think he was genuinely uneasy about the 2009-2010 version of Pac, which is why the drug testing suddenly came into play.

As for Margarito, I particularly remember this video:
