Ricky Hatton pushed Floyd Mayweather all the way, it was his toughest fight he's had in recent times.

    Physically...

Make's you realise now, how good Ricky Hatton was aswell..!

De La Hoya was Floyds toughest fight in recent times. Floyd has seemed to get better in each fight since then and was impressive fighting much more aggressively against Mosley.

Floyd's one of those guys that appears to be easy to overwhelm with volume. But, there has to be a reason that everyone just gives up and ends up trying to box with him. It's got to be that he punches a LOT harder on the counter than people think.

    Sharp, accurate and perfectly placed.

    Yes i agree....

The one punch speed, and the noise of his punches on TV...

Didn't look bone crushing, but they looked and sounded.

    Stinging and Laser like..!!

Its as if, he's electrocuting his opponents...!!!!

It's the punches that you don't see that hurt you the most and floyd's counters are mostly these type of punches.

    A virtuoso performance as usual!

Floyd is on record as saying that the hardest fight he had was against Ricky Hatton...:yep I have said this many times on this forum, when that check left hook landed where was Cortez...:think He was on the otherside of the ring. It was a tactically great fight from Floyd, he watched Hatton jumping in and bided his time to take him out when the perfect opportunity came...:yep

PBF showed us how strong he was on the inside that night too...:yep

The thread title is about making new fans...I judge people on what they do between the ropes, I have been a big fan of PBF for a long long time, it's not hard to see why he is lb 4 lb the best fighter on the planet by a country mile...:deal

If it's about personality and how he is away from the ring, that is his own way of generating his own box office, it might get up peoples noses, just as Naz did back in the 90's but the bottom line is that it sells and box office + skills = $$$$

They have to make the PBF v Pac Man fight, it has to happen. They are some posts that have PBF in the Top 25 ATG, some in the Top 15, I think that he will be higher if he beats Pac Man...PBF and Pac Man are the best that has been around for a long long time...:yep

Your post just goes to illustrate how great PBF is.. Where you are wrong is saying his opposition is poor. It is not at all. it has been outstanding. from 130 pounds to 160 pounds. His talent is such that he has made tough fights on paper a mismatch. There is a great double standard applied to PBF but what is clear is that he has beaten the best in every division he has been in. It used to make laugh when people thought the underskilled Margarito could give him a fight when the reality is he would probably put Margarito in hospital.

Unfortunately the cheat was exposed by Paul Williams and Mosley before PBF had the chance to give him what he had coming to him. In any event PBF has manhandled his conqueror Mosley.

Would have, could have, should have - but crucially didn't.

Unlike you, I won't make excuses for fighters. No one can seriously suggest that the combined might of Gatti, Baldomir, Judah, Marquez and Hatton make for a great LWW/WW resume. In Hatton and Marquez he was fighting smaller men who he held every advantage over.

Baldomir was a big guy, but that was it. Judah had just lost to the one-dimensional plodder I just mentioned and Gatti... well, his heart and his power marked him out from being a journeyman, but he was no elite.

Mayweather took the path of least opposition while he could have faced Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Cintron... all active at the same time, all good matches that would have proved something.

That doesn't diminish how good Floyd is, but no serious fan of the sport gave the guys he beat a real chance of winning. To suggest that now is just cheerful revision of history. And it's a load of bollocks.

If Floyd could have beaten Margarito so easily, why didn't he? It's not good enough to say, well Mosley did it so Floyd would have easily. A beats B does not equal A beats C. Someone of your knowledge of the sport surely wouldn't be so simplistic?

It's impossible to get behind someone who is so reluctant to take on the best. Do I think he can beat Pacquaio? Probably. Does he seem to want to make it happen? Not really.

Thanks I will address all your points point by point:

Gatti was a 2 weight world champion and current wbc champion at 140 pounds. Tyzu unfortunately was not available out injured when PBF came to 140 pounds briefly.. He took care of Tyzu's conqueror Hatton.

Baldomir is a better fighter than the cheating Margarito and he was WBC Welterweight as well as linear champion(the man who beat the man who beat the man).

Never forget PBF started his reign of terror and domination at 130 pounds and has gone up through the ranks beateing all the champions.

Zab Judah a recent WBC and undisputed champion who offered some stylistiic problems was dealt with as well.

Don't forget in this period as well he went up to 155 pounds and beat Oscar De La Hoya and take the 155 title.

Hatton was an unbeaten fighter with a whole country behind him. Yes he was 140 pounds world champion and conqueror of the great Kostya Tyzu.

Marquez just happens to be a tough son of a gun, one of the best pound for poind fighters in the world rated the 2nd before PBF came out of retirement and one of the most adaptable in the world. Who whatever the judges verdict was beat Pacman twice.

As for Cintron I don't think anyone honestly believes Cintron would have a chance against PBF not even Cintron himself.

I also agree that if A beat B and B beat C it does not mean that A will beat C granted. However I am 110% convinced that PBF would knockout Margarito and it would be a mismatch loaded gloves or not. Bob Arum was never interested in getting Cotto in with PBF. I love Miguel Cotto he is my type of fighter and Arum could have made this match any number of times when PBF was at Top Rank but chose not so as not to ruin Cotto who always had a strain of vulnerability.

Has it ever crossed your mind that Al Haymon who also handles Williams career does not particularly want a PBF for Williams. I don't think you actually realise how PBF could **** Williams up in so many ways.

Pacman , Arum and Roach really don't want to face PBF why should they as deep down they know that is the end of the line. PBF is seriously comnsidering Sergio Martinez at 160 pounds which tells you what kind of fighter or man that he is. Enough said

So what he had the choice to fight Baldomir the WBC and linear champion for more than $8 Million Margarito who was the WBO Champion. Then he fought Oscar next for $20 Million. Do you really believe he was afriad of that figment of Bob Arum's imagination.
