My thoughts all along. So there must have been a prior agreement made with Floyd's side before pulling Berto out of the fight. So the fight will be made 100%.

I'm pretty good at making educated guesses. I can't say the same about you which is why you'll probably be permanently banned from this forum pretty soon. Everyone knows that these fighters have the contractual right to postpone these fights within a certain timeframe. Given this fact, and given the fact that Berto will probably be back in the ring in April, why would he drop out of the fight all together instead of postponning it?

It's not like he has a bigger money fight lined up. No one is going to just throw away money. He was either paid to step aside, or he was promised a fight with the winner of May vs. Mosely. Either way, someone went through some trouble to get him to step aside in order to pave the way for Mayweather vs. Mosely. I doubt anyone would do this unless both Mayweather and Mosley were receptive to fighting eachother.

Realistically, what other choice does he really have that will satisfy the fans, his pockets, and the big wigs at HBO?

You're never going to find a rock solid source for info like that. Going public with that info. would make everyone look bad.

If that's your stance, that's fine. However, you seemed to be a bit hesitant about your confidence in regards to this fight being made. If you feel that Mayweather has no other choice, then you should be pretty damn confident that he will fight Mosley next.

I don't think he really wanted to fight Shane otherwise he would have before. But this was a great opportunity for him to silence critics given the fact that the PAC vs Floyd fight fell through. I think it worked out well for Floyd...its the best option for him aside from PAC or PW.

I didn't vote. The real answer is somewhere in between the two options. Floyd wanted the Mosley fight because GBP and HBO wanted it. I wonder what the purse split will end up looking like. Mosley should get his biggest payday ever in this one.

What about the fact that he made efforts to fight Shane in the past? I think both guys want to fight eachother. However, this is the first time that they both represented eachother's best option.

This is where you lose me. He dropped out of the fight... even if they just posponed the fight, they have no control over who Shane fights while waiting...why would they have to pay Berto anything? He holds no cards. What am I missing?:huh

I believe he really wanted the MP fight first & foremost but I think his 2nd choice opponent would have been Mosely no doubt, boxers arent in the dark about things, its not as if FM hasnt heard numerous times that his 2 biggest threats as well as his 2 biggest legacy fights are both MP & Mosely.... I think he wanted MP first tho because of the p4p & money things but Mosly was definitely on his agenda at some point.

I honestly believe that FM believes he can beat both guys but dont get me wrong, Mosely is a dangerous opponent & if the fans & media etc werent putting Shane forward as a real threat I think FM would be happy to avoid him because as I said, he`s one dangerous opponent.

To be honest, PBF wouldnt look too good taking another fight at this point. But it wouldnt be the 1st time that a fighter didnt do what the fans/media wanted them to do.

I know....but with Floyd and his mouth it's hard to tell what he really wants. He was asked serveral times in the past why he didn't fight Shane and he would say that it was Shanes fault the fight didn't get made....then turn round and say he doesn't need shane...Shane doesn't have a name or bring the money that would suffice for a "FLOYD MAYWEATHER"...or say Shane is a cheat and on roids which was why he didn't want to give shane a shot.....Floyd had plenty of opportunities to fight Shane before he retired but decided against it for whatever reasons so to me I don't think he really wanted to fight Shane.
