No the weight did. floyd has all the skills in the world (solid defence, decent power, and killer speed) but he wastes it by fighting guys of lower weight in an attempt to protect his 0, by the way it was downright disrespectful coming in over the weight. the guy should take risks and attempt to clean out his own division, by fighting either cotto (or pacquiao if he beats him) or mosley, or even clottey, if not then he should get the **** out. the maxim **** or get off the pot comes to mind with floyd.

Marquez isn't a heavy bag like most of the Mexican fighters' style, Marquez tends to go forward, counter and use defense when he can only to immediately counter with combinations. This fight he was overpowered and outskilled, he was the smaller man trying to make an impression but couldn't do it. A very very brave effort but fell short, his stock doesn't go down from this in my opinion. At least he fought undefeated and former #1 P4P Mayweather in his two weight division jump.

Nah Floyd was just better and wrong for him. Marquez is a counter puncher and he wasn't gonna be nearly as succesful as we was with Pac. Plus he was moving up.

I've said it before...fighters like Mayweather and Pacquiao have that trancendent speed that allows them to move up in weight succesfully. Marquez just doesn't have it. That doesn't make him an average fighter. Very good lightwieght, great featherwieght.

Marquez would have lost to almost all the top10 WW, wether Floyd fought him or not.

nah i think he could but he wanted to stick closer to the weight were the money fights will be made and thats 147....i think it was wrong of course but it was smart.....gaining and losing weight takes its toll on a body so i think Floyd made a deliberate decision to come in over weight listen even if he mad 144 that result doesnt change....i mean i think even a reasonable person sees that and yes Floyd knew he would beat Marquez so he used it as such just a tune up......his money fights will be at 147 so why not stick closer to the wieght were he will be fighting bigger fighters anyway.....there will be no catchweight for Floyd vs Pac, definitely not Cotto, definitely not Mosley, or any other fighter he fights at welter....i think his next fights are with fighters at 147.....is it wrong yea but its smart at the same time....call it what you want.

it was smart alright, but the thing is, how can his fanatics catapult him up there like a saint, when what he did was clearly bully a much smaller guy, now dont tell me "the weight diff was not that big" excuse. He had problems making it and had to modify the "deal". Still a good win as it was against JMM. The bloated version tho.
