I mean in HBO and the Showtime videos we saw, that even in training camp he was eating fast food (KFC, McDonald’s etc), usually in his free time he was out partying, betting, shopping etc., and he said ha rarely run because he hates it’s because it’s boring. Most of the top athletes live strict life. Maybe these things (diet, relax, recover, special training methods) are overrated, and it’s about the pure born talent 90%.
Don't be silly. Floyd, as obnoxious and dumb as he is, is a consummate professional when it comes to training. The rest of the stuff is just smoke n' mirrors. The only fight he probably didn't train very hard for was against that 0-0-0 guy.
I'm stumped by this question. We've had 20 years of observing his ability to abstain from drugs, alcohol and having a personal chef allows him to pig out once or twice a month. What HBO shows is what he wanted us to see. Even when he is at the strip clubs, there is no liquor, not even soda. Floyd IMO is the consummate athlete. Now let's say he does eat a bit of fastfood, I couldn't see any difference him using it as fuel as the 28 medal winning Michael Phelps who during Olympics was known eat pizza, pasta, fried egg sandwiches with cheese, fried onions, mayonnaise, omelet, grits, French toast with powdered sugar, chocolate chip pancakes. And when asked if he would do a cover for Wheaties he said no, but I'll do one for Frosted Flakes LMAO! But I digress; I can't think of a better example of a pure athlete out of training than Bernard Hopkins & Floyd Mayweather; two fighters who pretty much fought at the weight they walked around at.
He was best friends and hung out with Fiddy for a long time. That means odds are cocaine is his DOC. We know he loves hanging around other people smoking weed. And he doesn't ever take a toke? Also, we know he was publicly intoxicated was that just a couple years ago when he dropped his pants down in public. So the alcohol thing is not true either.
Helps when you can walk around at the weight, given Floyd game wasn’t one of power he could do that whilst the rest kill themselves to make weight.
Is that not a bigger credit to him then? Or are you of the opinion that "the rest" are all doing the wrong thing and at a disadvantage (despite being professionals with a team of professionals with whom boxing is their career)?
Yes it’s credit to Floyd imo, just a reply to the question in that in a game of pounds and inches it’s gotta make things easier without having to cut loads of weight.
So does Floyd. Floyd is meticulous about his diet. Don't believe the hype or the image Floyd portrays to sell fights. When Floyd had to do 90 days in jail he literally was begging to get out and wouldn't eat most of the prison food other than fruit or oatmeal because he refused to put garbage in his body. Floyd says his doctor also "expressed deep concern for [Floyd's] health and explained that any lengthy period of time with an inappropriate diet, coupled with lack of regular exercise, will most likely lead to irreversible damage to Mr. Mayweather's physique." http://m.tmz.com/#!2012/06/12/floyd-mayweather-jail-boxing-domestic-violence-house-arrest/ The biggest issue that jail officers had with Mayweather, the reports suggest, was a sense of entitlement. Nearly every day, officers reported that Mayweather refused to touch the food on his tray, except an occasional orange or piece of bread. Records from the commissary show that Mayweather's favorite items were packets of oatmeal flavored with maple and brown sugar, chicken ramen noodles, bottled water and Snickers bars. http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/73637004/floyd-mayweather-details-jail-sentence-las-vegas-do_3
So 5% are doing it right and the other 95% are doing it wrong? I think your head (and many other forum goers) is a little twisted there.
The man ran 5 miles in 30 minutes! Not bad for a guy that didn't like running. He partied but, didn't drink. No drugs(no PED jokes). He stayed in the gym. He took training seriously!
