Whether he avoided them or not, the fact that he hasnt fought very many upper tier fighters in their prime did help prolong his career, no doubt.

But it also has to do with his style of fighting, not drinking and drugging outside the ring, and staying in decent shape.

Mayweather is one of the sports most professional operators outside of the ring when it comes to setting himself up for success inside the ring. One of his best traits.

True, dog him all you want and he can be self destructive at times, but he's developed a mindset for long term success despite all his flaws.

He avoided Clottey?, I know for a fact that almost every single fan would've avoided watching that fight.

I know I'm in the minority, but I would've liked to see that fight and how it would've played out. I still think floyd wins, but I don't think it would've pkayed out as we all think it would on paper, with clottey going straight tortoise mode and floyd walking him down late, would've been interesting to see imo, adjustments on both parts. Clotteys, strength, and underrated counters I think would've made it interesting for a bit.
