"I would never want to put a fighter in a position where he's not comfortable. I want a guy when he's at his best. If he's at his best at 154 and he's strong and he's solid, then that's the fight we're fighting at. I walk around at 150, but at the end of the day - skills pay the bills.... Give me the guys where they are comfortable at their weight so there are no excuses."

    --Floyd Mayweather, February of 2012.

"I look at Miguel Cotto as an undefeated fighter because he faced Pacquiao, but Pacquiao caught him at a catch weight. He wasn't the best Miguel Cotto. He was drained. He wasn't hydrated."

I really wonder how you could be a follower of the sport today and not remember Floyd saying this in the build up to the Cotto fight. Why the hell do you think people are laughing at the CW in this fight. Damn, people are thick.

I'm not sure if this is directed at me or not, but if it is I don't appreciate insinuating that I'm not a follower of the sport today. that's very rude and insulting.

I am a dedicated boxing fan and follow the sport very closely. I do vaguely remember Floyd saying that, but when I searched google with that quote nothing came up. I was just trying to find the quote. Isn't it a bit outrgeous that no one in the media is talking about this blatant hypocrisy from Mayweather? I'm not a FMJ hater either. I like the guy, he's the best boxer in the world right now. But if he's the best boxer in the world, and he states catch weights are meaningless, then demands Canelo drains himself to make a self-imposed catch weight, then I gotta call Mayweather out for his hypocrisy. It's completely unfair that Canelo has to drain himself to make 152 pounds. Mayweather himself said he wouldn't do that to Cotto, so then why is he doing that to Canelo? You tell me.

Actually that has been buzzing around here for quite a while now.

A lot of guys are actually calling out the hypocrisy.

With regards to the media, well, there are quite a few who commented on that. I believe Ron Borges wrote something with regards to the catchweight.

Most of the media in or out of the internet are not knowleadgeable about boxing. They're not going to pickup on Mayweather's hypocrisy.

Mayweather said that about catchweights in order to build up a fighter most in the know knew was close to shot.

Now that he's signed to face a bonafide dangerous juniormiddleweight, the tune clearly changes.

Mayweather would'nt even be taking this fight at 152 lbs if not for Showtime having him by the balls in regards to the contract he signed with them.

Showtime was'nt as dumb as we all thought when a bunch of no hope names showed up on a list for Mayweather to fight.
Obviously based on Mayweather's poor PPV buyrate vs Guerrero, Showtime does have a say on who Mayweather has to fight next in order to build the Buyrate up!

The problem here is not that Mayweather cant beat Canelo. The problem is that the probablity to get there is that he's going to have to bring out his full repertoire of tricks to do so.

Mayweather dont like being taken to the brink!

His *****s were even worse when it cames to criticizing about PAC and his catchweight. It seems like now catchweight are ok and suddenly good for the sport to them .
